Foot surgery and Lyme/Bart help

Hey, all. In February I stubbed my toe, which caused my big toenail to start to turn black. It didn't hurt but it eventually grew out and the top half fell off about a month ago. Still no pain still no problem. Last weekend I began experiencing a lot of pain because it's in grown.

I went to podiatrist on Tuesday. He removed part of the nail, and I was very surprised to see a small pocket of pus underneath the nail. I've been on a combined 2000 mg a day of antibiotics for two months. So that was odd.

Here's the crux of the issue: I felt perfectly fine the day he removed part of the nail. I'm back with pain the day after, until today. He May want to go in and remove more of the nail because of the pain I'm experiencing. My question is, can Lyme or Bartonella be making this worse than it really is? And should I not get the nail removed and hauled off, or do you think it won't make much difference?

Oh how I hate ingrown toenails!!! Both of my kids and my husband have had their large toenail removed due to continuing issues with ingrown toenails. The only time I deal with ingrown toenails is when I'm healed!! (a heck of a 'present'!! You're healed! Here's two ingrown toenails! Congratulations!! - ugh) I usually take care of my own ingrown toenails - not pleasant, but it beats going to the doctors and having them do the same things I do at home.

While I would say that you need to talk over your options for sure with your LLMD, understand that any procedures you have done, may or may not heal "as expected". For me, I never heal "as expected" - I have more pain and take longer to heal than any doctors expect, but I'm pretty sure this is just as individualized as finding a treatment for Lyme is for us.

We know that both Lyme and Bart attack our nervous system, but it's very difficult to know if someone's pain is due to the issues with the attack on our nervous system instead of an issue other than that.

How does the toe look? Red and inflamed? Then I say no question about it, get back to the podiatrist. Otherwise, gather as much information as you can, then try to make the best decision on your situation.
