I've only found scientific articles of Lyme attacking the teeth/ nerves to the teeth, but there is documentation that Bartonella can affect feline (cat) teeth, so I'm questioning that.
Either way, it can be just the nerves, or it can be attacking the teeth themselves, so do be sure that your teeth are in good condition, or see a good dentist. Gingivitis is a fairly common issue with Lyme, although I never had any issues with it - it went straight for my teeth - and then the bones of my jaws once the teeth were gone.
