Bit July 4. Abx 6 weeks. Third week off of abx. Tried Burber - no good. Tried Banderol - even worse. Started eleuthero last Wednesday. Loved it. Stayed at two drops in the morning. When I tried the afternoon drop I didn't sleep much. Since Saturday, even on two drops, while I feel much better and have more energy I have trouble sleeping. Last night was up for four hours in the night. Didn't take it today. Want to see how I sleep tonight. In fairness my husband is traveling, I'm negotiating a new job, selling our house and my son was sent home sick yesterday so it may have been stress related.

I wanted to begin ashwaganda yesterday but am holding off.

Stephania Root, Skullcap, Red Sage, Angrographis and Teasel have all arrived.

Where to begin? I am feeling discouraged that herbs do not work for me due to my high sensitivity. I continue to detox and eat very well.

Thoughts on next steps? Thanks.

start with the wellness ones first? ashwagandha, licorice and eleutero?

What happened with Banderol? one of my Buhner's herbs got me very dizzy, but I had started 3 different ones so I cut them all off. plan to start them one at a time. (scutellaria, cordiceps, salvia)

Thanks Caramba,

I am on eleu but stopped for today to see if I sleep tonight. Think is has been disrupting sleep.

I get very dizzy on Banderol and felt depressed and weird. A few people have shared similar symptoms. Not for everyone. Starting one at a time is smart and getting assistance on here - these experts really know these herbs inside and out.

Huddie - I'm reading your posts and wondering if some of your reactions are herxes. = rather than side effects or sensitivities.

Hi. Thanks for responding. I don't know how to tell the difference. With Banderol I felt bad instantly. Dizzy to the point where if I stood up I felt I had to sit right back down. I tried 3 days (stayed at 1 or two drops don't remember which). As soon as I stopped I could function. Others then weighed in that this happened for them.

Eleuthero has been great but the sleep is now an issue. Again, could be stress. I'll know more after tonight.

I'm willing to herx and go through not feeling well but I have to be able to stand! I am up at 6:20am to get my son up and off to school, today I had to get across town for an 11:00am appointment and I have to go back out for a 4:00pm appointment. In NYC you must be able to walk a bit and function.

It is so difficult sorting it all out, isn't it?

herxes vs flares..vs med side effects..vs infection worsening vs another co-infection coming to the forefront.

I've been wondering that as well, though. Maybe it's time for a 23&me test for genetic mutations that may be causing trouble with detoxing???? Or maybe testing for mold and/or yeast/fungal issues?

Thanks Trav,

How do I do that? I'm going back to LLMD in October so will save this and ask for more testing. What would I be looking for? In the mean time should I begin any of the new herbs?

Last night I started getting hot flash feelings and had them a few times today and feel nauseous. I didn't sleep much, feel a bit stressed over something and had to go out to three different appointments today so that may not be helping. Are these symptoms of cos rearing their ugly head?

My gut reaction was - like Girlie - some of the reactions might be herxing?
Have you purchased any of Buhner's books or seen if they have them at your library?
What are the symptoms you are specifically addressing and are you targeting lyme or a co-infection in the moment?

Thank you. I do have Buhner's book but haven't really read it. I skimmed it and was so overwhelmed by it all and felt I had to take a crash course in herbology/botany 101.

I have always been a highly sensitive person. I went ER in high school. I took Midol for my period and passed out. The ER doctors kept insisting I od'd on some drug. Then I was taken to the ER last year after oral surgery. Had nitrous for about 15 minutes during oral surgery and they had a hard time waking me up - had tremors all over. That was scary. Anyway, as of now I am trying to build up my immune system and gain some energy. At Trav's suggestion I started eleuthero - which has been great except for the sleep issue that began two nights ago. I will add in ashwaganda. I then want to start one of the killing herbs. I don't mind herxing (although truth be told it scares me a little) but I can't be dizzy to the point where I can't stand up (like Banderol).I live in Manhattan and have to walk most places.

My symptoms are joint pain (on a scale of 1-10 it is only a 3 or 4) and fatigue. Today I feel nauseous and have had a few hot flashes. I'm fairly new so want to continue to lower bacteria load so I don't get worse. I have gotten blood drawn for all numbers, lyme, and all cos - will get results in October. Sorry this got so long. P.S. I 100% have lyme but LLMD wants to see what else shows up now that I have had it for a while. Thanks!

It's a little pricey for some of us, but it can be very revealing for those that are having difficulty detoxing:

The symptoms you are describing are hard to pinpoint as to what infection you could be dealing with. It could just be the total load on your body, or it could be that between the stress and the difficulty with detoxing, you aren't making much headway. Or I could be totally off base.

I would encourage you to start a new thread about the mold/yeast/fungal testing and to search the forum for recent posts about this - I think there was one not too long ago.

Oh, and you will get back "raw" data that will look like gobbly gook, but there are sites that you can go to in order to get help in figure it all out. If you do the test, we can point you to some of those sites.

Huddie, stop everything and get settled for a day. If you have to, then go for 2 days. Detox like crazy both of those days.

See if your vitamins or other supplements are going okay. Sometimes it is not the herbs but the combo of the herbs and the supplements or food.

Then start with the Stephania. 1 drop - one time a day. Since you are so sensitive, do that for 3 days to let your body get used to it and also for you to see how it goes.

Then 2 drops, 1 time a day.

You may have to do this for a few days. You may be someone that needs to go VERY slow. There is no rush.

I like the idea of you quitting for a few days. I think you may have lyme symptoms. Quitting herbs will give you a chance to see what lyme symptoms are. Mine were so crazy and different. I never did find a consistent pattern.

You may just have lyme symptoms and because you are taking an herb you can't distinguish between the two.

You do realize that I am guessing - I am not a doctor, at all.

Trav, I may check out the 23andme after my next LLMD/bloodwork is over. I'm overwhelmed with doctors and the constant vigil on myself. Not researching mold right now. First want to get lyme under control.

Peteza, Love the "I'm not a doctor" disclaimer LOL! I did stop everything today. I only took my thyroid medication. No supplement or eleuthero.

I definitely feel something - this sounds weird, or maybe not, but I feel like I can feel bacteria in my arms and legs like they still feel different. I may also be getting a fibromyaliga flareup. I used to get them once every four months. This is the four month mark. When I get them I get insomnia, hot flashes, etc... then they subside. Who the heck knows anymore.

QUESTION: do you guys think I should go back to ele/ashwaganda (haven't started that yet) then wait and try stephania - or go directly to stephania? I'm going super slow. I may be a one drop person.

Thank you so much. Interesting about you doing less vs. more. Where are you with how you feel/symptoms? In other words are you now in maintenance?

For whatever reason burber/pinella/banderol not good with me. I'm switching to Buhner.

I take: B12, D-K, Magnesium, C, sublingual gluthione (the one that tastes horrible), AHCC (mushrooms), selenium, I-lysine (just started that), Sun Warrior immune shield, probiotic, spirulina.

Detox: lemon-water, ACV, dry brushing, Yogi detox tea, essential oils, activated charcoal (but hardly ever take).

Herbs: Eleuthero but skipped yesterday and didn't change sleep so I think I may be having a fibromyalgia flareup (I get some insomnia when I have it). May try one drop today.

So what is in your Green Dragon protocol - how long have you been on it and how is it making you feel?

I just wanted to add that even if you're doing Buhner's herbal protocol(s), you can still use the Nutramedix (Cowden) detox/cleanses.

- You may already know this but wanted to make sure.

No. They didn't. I didn't actually try Pinella. I was muscle tested by my LLMD and he said not to take either. I had already tried Burber but it gave me severe headaches/nausea within thirty minutes.

Right now I'm only on detoxing/supplements/and one drop of eleuthero since two was keeping me awake. If can stand the one drop my plan is to add in ashwaganda and then after that begin Stephania Root.
