Hi All,

This is a quick overview:

I've had Tinnitus for 8 months now. That is a life time to long already. I cannot image people that have it for years or decades. +

I have not had good advice and the best answer was from an ENT that said "It is as much difficult for me as you as I have no answer". That was the 3rd ENT. The others said I possibly had TMJ and another was concerned with trembling hands issue.

I had a uncontrollable spams in my entire body off and on for weeks. It increased to the point where my entire body was shaking/twitching non stop. My wife took me to the ER and had a CT scan. A nurse told us that he felt it is Lyme Disease (but was in secret).

Since then... I've been to countless appointments with Acupuncture and Acupressure areas. It is on going.

I'm told the test results say I don't have Lyme Disease. Should I believe this? Here are my symptoms (live in CT - Hike alot).

* Extreme tinnitus (10 - drops to lesser degrees -> 3 to 10)
* My fingers are numb randomly
* High Blood Pressure - before but spikes more now (max checked is 180/110)
* Sharp pains in stomach area
* Nausea
* Head pressure
* Eye Pain
* Random joint pains
* Dizziness
* High Depression and Anxiety


I've found now answers and this is a place that seems to provide realist advice.

Hey Shawn - It certainly looks like you could have Lyme disease from the symptoms you describe.

Nope - you shouldn't believe the tests...especially the ones from the 'routine' labs.
You should get tested through Igenex Lab. They specialize in Tick-borne disease testing. You can order a test kit from them, get a Dr. to sign the lab req. and take to a lab.
The best test to get is the Lyme Western Blot Igm and IgG for $210.

it takes three weeks to get the results.

I have Pulsatile tinnitus. I feel/hear a pulsing - like a heartbeat in my ears.
What has helped - is treating the infection(s). Mine is barely there anymore.

Your other symptoms, as well, could all be from Lyme disease and co-infections.

We become sick because our biological pathways don't function efficiently like they are supposed to. This can happen because of influence from pathogens, from blockade by unwanted metals or toxins, or from nutrient deficiency. When people have Lyme Disease, they often have problems with all three of these issues. In a situation like yours when someone doesn't know what is going on, all three factors need to be addressed. Nutrition is the easiest for you to utilize as a tool in starting your path to recovery.

Like others said, normal LabCorp lyme tests are basically worthless and would recommend getting tested for Lyme with Igenex.

I have had years of constant tinnitus, and just got diagnosed with Lyme so hoping the treatment helps my tinnitus. Some say Bartonella causes tinnitus, so be on the lookout for co-infections

I would recommend hanging out here and reading up on lyme, and finding a LLMD to properly DX and treat you.

I too received a 'normal' lab and had to walk into my doc with Igenex paperwork and demand he signs it.. Dizziness, Sinus like pressure, constant tinnitus. Started what is called the Buhner herbal protocol and I am taking Houttuynia until I can get in to see a LLMD (for Bartonella aka Bart) which some people here mentioned helped their tinnitus. I did have a mild herx reaction on that herb which should help confirm I have Bart.

I did start acupuncture, but it's not helping so far going to do a few more treatments and probably stop it.

Don't feel discouraged, This is a somewhat long and experimentation journey but most people who do the right things get through this to a healthier place :)

Welcome iShawn, I am sorry that you are experiencing these things. It does sound like Lyme is a possibility, especially considering you are a hiker.

Hi, just found this thread and I wanted to know if you found relief, or at least answers regarding your tinnitus?

I personally have just developed tinnitus as well. I was recently tested for Lyme and treated with 100mg Doxy 2x/day for 30 days. Around the 20 or so day mark the tinnitus started. It was really quiet at first and I was able to ignore it for the most part. The first day of not taking Doxy, the tinnitus was not present, so I thought it was the med. Next day, it was back and 2x as loud and hasn't stopped since (ive been off Doxy for 2 weeks now). It's a very high frequency sound. I discovered this website:

I have found no relief. It does not let up, tends to get louder in the afternoon and late evening. It's there when I wake up.
