So overall I had been feeling fairly well with treatment up until about a month ago. I was at about 65% better. My llmd took me off all abx for 2 weeks as I had plateaued to see what symptoms were still bad. I got hip pain back with in a week and tremors started back. The weird thing I don't know about is this awful pain under my ribs it seems to be worst at the joints such as the bottom of the sternum and the ends of the next couple of ribs down. It is really bad when I lean on them or stretch out or take a deep breath. I am back on abx and I had blood work redrawn to check normal labs and my muscle enzymes and liver enzymes all labs came back perfectly fine except my cpk or muscle enzymes was high and ast/alt or liver enzymes were high. Any thoughts? Not sure why the new pain or why my enzymes spiked.

I'm wondering if you have bartonella? Has your LLMD discussed what co-infections he thinks you have?

Rib pain is a symptom of bartonella....and bart can also affect the liver function (high ast/alt)

We treated for Bartonella early on. I wonder if the buggers are just coming back out again? We treated with rifampin minocycline and plaquinil for almost 4 months cause he was certain Bartonella was causing a lot of issues

It sounds like costochondritis, which can be a part of Lyme or Bart.

Sometimes people have to retreat an infection that was treated early on due to the overwhelming amount of symptoms we can have making it hard to identify that the infection was successfully treated.

nberg - 'almost 4 months' isn't usually long enough for bartonella - especially if you've had it for awhile.

A well-known LLMD says it can take over a year in some cases. Of course that's not the case for everyone...but IMO 4 months is not long enough.

Have you thought about going back on treatment for bart...and see how you feel?
