"Well most patients they only listen to the white coat lab person....so it is a waste of energy to even tell people."
- yes, and that just blows my mind. How is it that so many people, refuse to learn things on their own and assume the "professionals" know it all?
I met a well educated individual who didnt know what magnessium was. How does one forget simple 7th grade school science / chemistry class.?
Most of us by now have experiences with the "health cluless" rolling their eyes.
I know an old man possibly dying from lyme, now in the nursing home. Had the symptoms, a lifelong northwoods outdoors person to. His brain is now exiting. His family thought I was nuts. Sorry to say, but Mr Grier would love this mans brain speciman someday.
I don't think the general public understands what medical students are being taught. Since Lyme is not one of the big money makers in the health field, they probably get about
2 pages on both sides, of outdated material.
Really, no matter what health problem(s) a person is dealing with, it behooves them to educate themselves so that they can be pro-active. I can hear some people retort "That's what the Dr. spent (and gets) big money for, to be the Dr., not me." And that is certainly parroted by many Drs. themselves.
And there are many people would be scared to be knowledgeable about
their health, even if they had the capacity to learn about
it.
It's like, for most things I'd rather pay a mechanic for my car problems, and like me don't want to listen if someone contradicts my trusted mechanic. Everyone probably has at least one area they don't want/can't handle. In the case of our health, sadly.
