Test results (finally)

artermix....my LLMD seems to be doing everything that contradicts what I've read. (I don't plan on going back to her but I at least wanted to get another abx first.) She said she needed to check my levels before prescribing anything else. So my IgG antibodies disappeared....and that's good?

We can't rely on follow-up WB test results to determine when we're 'better' .

Treatment needs to be continued as long as we have symptoms...and then several more weeks after.

Well, if she's willing to continue treatment, then all is good.
But, it sounds like you may need to switch at some point if she stops treatment and you're not better.

Have you thought about making an appt with another LLMD for a couple months down the road...in case your current Dr. says you're all better by looking at test results?
..or you could just continue treatment with herbs.


I don't agree with everything my Dr. says..but as long as I keep going forward...

..and as Traveler pointed out - mono therapy is not recommended. You should be adding a second antibiotic to your protocol.

If all it is true....and I think what you say it is, and in reference to my other post....why didn't my LLMD treated me with 2 abx the very first time? Why he did not say about the short life of amoxy......did he think my lyme was treatable just with that?

Sometimes we can 'tread lightly' and have a discussion. I have 'wangled' a certain antibiotic that I wanted from my LLND. He is easy-going, though, and that helps. He knows I have been researching and have educated myself.

Not all LLMD's are good. It's like all occupations. There are good lawyers and bad. Good surgeons, and bad...etc.

Also, to be an ILADS member - I think you just need to go to one conference and register. They may never go to another one again. There isn't a test to see if they know their stuff.

@pmmm73.....because she bases her treatment on test results. Many of them MD and LLMD do this. It is very, very misleading to us patients who are told of the unreliability of the test.
Even within this community the opinions are contrasting in my opinion. The test is admittedly flawed even by CDC standards, but the values of the percentage are different. According to CDC guidelines care has been denied to people who even tested positive....because those were FALSE positive results.
Truthfully any illness a person is diagnosing without a concrete test can fall in equivocal diagnosis......an example is mental illness which are diagnose on a subjective basis.

Of course Lyme is slightly different...
