I feel like the show's gone on too long for their own good. They either need to kill off some of the main characters, or end it. The way I see it, so many of the main cast have been in situations wherein they should have died, for sure, yet have somehow emerged unscathed.
There's a scene in one of the more recent seasons where a guy is surrounded by like 30 zombies, back against the wall, and, I mean, they're RIGHT on top of him, but he's somehow saved when his friends finally start shooting them or whatever. It's like, no, you got bitten. Stop.
They're sacrificing realism for the sake of keeping the main characters alive, because the audience has grown attached to them. In a way, that makes sense. I mean, even I would be upset to see some of them die, but, at the same time, I think it takes away from the show.
They're gonna hurt either way, whether they keep having the characters survive by near miraculous means every time, or keep it realistic and have some of them start dying. Though, going the former route, they'll make more money, because some people are going to watch, regardless of the fact that the show just isn't keeping it real.
I don't know if I'm caught up - I stopped keeping track of the show, but one of the seasons ended with our group being captured by another group, right? These men are killers, our beloved characters have crossed them by killing some of their people, and they have no bargaining chips, nothing.. yet.. the leader of the other group is going to decide to keep them alive.
Why? You have no need for them. I mean, of course, the writers are going to make it look like you want to keep them alive for X reason, but.. why? In reality, why? You have enough able-bodied men, you're not hurting for support, you can't trust them, etc.
In reality, they'd have been dead, at least in my opinion.
I've gone on a rant here, sorry. This show has just struck a chord with me, because.. while I understand why the runners of the show are making it this way (longevity, money, the usual), I expect realism from a showing depicting a zombie apocalypse.
I could understand getting lucky here and there - some instances in the show are believable, but.. some of these characters have seemed to have divine protection these past couple seasons. I don't buy it. lol
edit:
Also, yeah, speaking of the ticks, for the amount of time everyone's spending in heavily wooded areas and whatnot, someone should have been bitten by now, we should have come across some survivors displaying Lyme-like symptoms, or something. But, again, the show is not the epitome of what something like this would actually be like.
Yes, I'm salty as hell, if you couldn't tell. You got me
