Helllo again, well have to say feeling the effects of the abx my stomach is gasey, burpy and uncomfortable. Feels hard to breath. I heard kimchi is good is kefir ok to drink or would it interfere. Any other suggestions i ordered prescript assist probiotics from dr.. please input would be greatly appreciated thankyou.

Fermented foods are suppose to be good for gut health but I think sometimes they would make me burpy, especially anything spicy. Kefir is good but it can have sugar and dairy.

The most gentle is bone broth, in my opinion. You can add some veggies or some chicken and make it into soup or just drink it warm like a tea.

I prefer the taste of turkey bone broth rather than the chicken or the beef. And you can buy it on Amazon if your store does not carry it.

Hi, poocheez. Fermented foods (saurkraut,kimchi,fermented veg) are all good choices, ACV, probiotics (which you did), stewed veggies are easy on the gut... just take probiotics away from abx.

I would just add to start slow on the fermented foods. Some people have to work up to being able to handle these. Just depends on what's going on in the digestive track. I would suggest a tbsp or so to start.

Bought fermented food then stopped....someone said don't mix fermented food with Candida...??

Bone broth and green smoothies seem okay.

I had candida and never avoided quality fermented foods, but we are all individual. I have no issues and haven't for years. I got the issue from many rounds of abx when I was younger. it was systemic and stubborn... i avoided sugar, dairy and glutens but not fermented foods like saurkraut, tempe, ACV or the like... we still eat impeccably, shopping on the edge of the store for veggies and proteins... not packaged foods.

But, we are all individuals and what works for one, will not work for another.

Apple cider vineger helps digestion, so if you feel bloated, that is a good choice

@Reminder - I cured 7 years of horrific Candida with fermented foods. I had tried everything and dozens of doctors and prescriptions. I was so blown away by the results I started teaching fermentation classes( And getting paid!). Of course I am not saying it's a cure-all, obviously because I am here with CL. ;) But IMHO that is a fallacy about them and Candida. Just make sure you're not buying the sugary kefir or kombucha. Unless you have a histamine intolerance, fermented foods are SO beneficial. We have eaten them daily for 1000's of years. Just start slow so your microbiome can adjust.

Some fermented foods have sugar. That won't help with candida. I had bad candida when I stopped antibiotics and had just a little sugar and only took my probiotic once a day. Then I jumped back on board and started taking fermented foods daily and within 2 days my candida symptoms softened. I'm still working through it but that's internal, at least now I don't feel it. It was awful when I did but I agree, slow and steady with fermented in the beginning if it's bothering you. A tablespoon of two of these: kimchi, sauerkraut, and goat kefir would be a good start. And a bite of a pickle.
