That is a shame that a thread was locked... we don't have freedom of speech now or PC is above everything?? I did not see insult at all there.

Tbh this is one of the better forums I have been on and its extremely supportive and the people on here are very knowledgeable and intelligent. I think it was locked because an argument was starting on that thread and this forum doesn't seem like it lets that kind of thing happen which I really appreciate besides it was getting off topic at that point

I am very disappointed that the food thread was locked. I read the rules and I argue that the posts made by any of the parts were offensive to anyone.

Furthermore, I truly detest forum police. It is highly irritating to have censorship within the forum.

I feel that personally I am not of any contribution to this forum. I apologize for even coming here and ruining your perfectly politically correct place.
I do not want to feel like I am walking on eggshells each single time I am posting. Dealing with lyme disease is hard enough and since my life is going to be shortened by the disease, I definitely do not want to die holding on what I have to say.

Artermix - did you read those last few posts? The thread was not locked because of your contributions.

Walking on eggshells? Who? And why? Everyone here has the ability to express their opinion on many things, but when someone takes offense at it, as a Mod, I have a responsibility to watch over all members and to keep things calm on this forum - or I loose my "job" if I can't do as Admin needs.

As a Mod, I have agreed to not allow 'fights' to break out on this forum. I'm sorry if you disagree with this, but a forum where members are constantly fighting is not what I'm looking for. We are all adults here and I believe we should all respect others opinions and choices, but not everyone agrees with that, so from time to time, fights do get started - the only way to keep them from getting completely out of control is to "nip it in the bud.'

You are welcome to start another thread about food, but please do not protest the locking of a thread by starting another thread. You can email me or one of the other mods privately.


If you are in disagreement with this, you can write to me privately, or you can write to Admin. Mods do not make the rules.

Artermix - Traveler was just cautioning everyone - as she didn't want it to escalate...that is our job as a Moderator.

Why would you think that you're not contributing?
I'm really sorry you feel this way....
It's perfectly fine to express your opinions, but we have to make sure that we don't step over the 'line'....we have seen things escalate before...and it creates tension, and can be upsetting to people reading it. That's not what we want here.

You worry me when you say things like this; are you okay?....We are all different and have different outlooks and perspectives. I look forward to what you have to say on a lot of topics. I hope you are feeling okay (that's always such a weird thing to say to someone with Lyme, right?) I hope you are not feeling bad is probably more accurate. xo

I sooo wanted to post on your thread when I first read it. My life prevents me from participating on the forum most times and it took me away from the forum before I was able to post.

Your thread was great - VERY informative and thought-provoking.

As people posted, the tone of the thread changed....and I recognized that the tone was in violation of forum rules.

When rule-violating members don't respect a mod's warning, we are required to lock the thread.

You didn't violate forum rules - another member did.

I don't know about you but, there were times when I was a kid that our entire class got punished for the errant ways of a member of the class. That's really what happened with your thread.

Your message was wonderful and I truly hope you'll continue to share your thoughts and research with us here. I also hope you'll seek our support whenever you may need it.

It's because of members like you that I consider this forum to be exceptional. Knowledge and caring represent a wonderful combination :)

artermix - you are valued here and make a valuable contribution - I for one appreciate the monitoring and the outside eye with regard to the tone. This stuff is so hard, I personally feel as if I need as much positivity as possible. Now I'm curious about the thread..ha, ha, ha! I don't get to them all. Just read it. Given the guidelines in the sandbox we all play in, I think it was appropriate to lock the thread. Tough stuff. I am sorry for feelings that were hurt and any misunderstandings. Gratitude for all you've added to the community and gratitude to Traveler for taking such great care of this space. It is not an easy job is my guess...

Nope, not an easy job, Multi! I get people mad at me all the time for following the rules I have to follow as a mod, but I'm up for that, as long as this remains a "safe place". We are 'bombarded' with stress in the real world, and I just wish to keep this forum calm and people talking and discussing ideas calmly. Everyone has different opinions on different things, and we need to remember that we all have a right to speak here - if it's done in an appropriate manner.

If we get upset over something someone has posted (let's face it, many here are frazzled!), we need to take a deep breath, and even walk away sometimes before coming back to post - I know I've done that more than I can count. If that's not enough, regular members can 'ignore' members posts that they find highly irritating - but a mod simply can't do that - oh, and members can't do that to a mod or they will get a warning, then will likely be banned if it's not corrected - part of playing by the rules here.

By the way, no one got banned, just one thread locked.

But, I would like to ask that those that have an issue with something a mod has done - or even a regular member, please, PLEASE email a mod to discuss this! Do not post about it on the forum. It does nothing more than take away from the forum and the main topic of Lyme and living with Lyme and co.
