Currently I take Azithro and Mino.
Recently I feel extreme fatigue. My friend recommended one supplement for energy.
Do you think I could use this supplement? I am SO afraid of interactions!

Ingredients:

L-carnitine fumarate360 mg

Guarana is what I took as a hippie chick in college to cram for exams. It is about twice the concentration of caffeine found in a coffee bean. Believe me, we ate chocolate covered coffee beans also. Guarana did upset my stomach a lot of the time.

Ginsengs listed are stimulants along with being adaptogens. It depends on the type. Eleutherococcus is a ginseng, but it is not so much on the stimulant side but more on the adaptogen side.

I am not a fan of stimulants. I was very tired for months as I treated lyme. I slept one heck of a lot. Napping was all I did. I just did not think a stimulant would be good with my already high blood pressure and racing heart that lyme had given me. I also did not want to be nauseous and stimulants can do that.

I think it is all personal opinion and you will have to research each item and then try it to see if it is what you expected.

but you think it won't have interactions with abx that I take?

I understand it is not good to use stimulant, but I feel so tired I need something to help me keep going. It would be only temporarily.

It concerns me that taking stimulants may over tax your adrenal function and defeat your whole purpose for taking them.

Blueberrymuffin, I have no idea about antibiotic interactions and stimulants.

If I were to take a stimulant all it would have to be is a tiny bit of sugar. But the sugar let down is horrible for me.

Have you tried green tea? It has a tad of caffeine in it but it is also good for you.

Cacao is a natural stimulant also and you might try that. Or Maca, or Cayenne or chia seeds.

The guarana is not bad for you if taken short term and just for a little help. Neither are the ginsengs. I would get them as organic as I could and try them individually before trying them all together in a combo pill.

Ask at the health food store. Most health food stores employ knowledgeable clerks.

Asking a doctor about taking herbs will get you looked at funny. Most doctors don't know much about herbs and so their answer, to cover their fannys, is No, don't take herbs.

Can you call an herbalist in your area? They would know the interactions of herbs and abx.

Well, I was thinking about this. I decided to take it sometimes - for example, when I know I will have to be alert and focused.
I think it won't ruin my adrenals, if I take it occasionally.
What do you think?

Cordyceps are good for energy and Buhner speaks very highly of it for these infections.

I don't know if I would go with a blend at this time. I would pick one and check out interactions.

PeteZa I have a question for you. Do you think that a good herbalist, that knows Buhners protocol, would be able to address not only Lyme&Co. but also hormonal problems?

Yes, they know a heck of a lot about herbs. If that herbalist is only knowing about lyme herbs, I would super surprised. My herbalist knows about everything. I have oseoarthritis, sinus problems, etc and she addresses all of those too.

I need a herbalist in Europe and on that list I saw some are based in the UK.

Let's pick on the first one listed for the UK.

It's gives you some information and prices. Then you can do a search for reviews on the herbalist's name.

My LLMD took me off caffeine more than a year ago to give my adrenals a break and allow them to recuperate (and I was not on a heavy load of caffeine to begin with; I've never drunk coffee). Honestly, I was doubtful at the time, but it has really helped. I drink decaf green tea, and I do allow myself a cup of matcha (green tea) once or twice a week now, and an occasional cup of regular green tea.

I also took the NutraMedix adrenal support mix for a couple months.

I personally would not use a mix of stimulants, whether herbal, pharmaceutical, or food, to try to shock exhausted glands into overdrive. I am finally improving, so that now I realize how completely exhausted I used to be (5 years barely functioning, 18 months treatment, finally seeing substantial improvement these last 2 months). They'll try, but the glands can't respond to it anyway, or at least mine wouldn't have been able to...

It was quite an amazing feeling after about 4 months caffeine-free (i.e. adrenal recuperation time) when I had a fight-or-flight moment and I could actually feel the adrenaline kick in. That's when you know the glands are recovering - when they work again!

Hopefully you can find an herbalist who can suggest a supplement that will help with energy level. I'd be interested to learn what you find out!

Blueberry, I understand your hesitation in what you add to your regime.

One of the things I added with great success is Eleuthero. It has helped me so much with fatigue. When I started this healing journey I could barely stay awake during the day. I did not have energy to do anything, even dishes or laundry was a chore. Now I can often accomplish several things in a day. It is a great improvement. And according to Buhner Herbs can be taken alongside abx. You do need to be cautious of course when starting out. It has worked for many but for some it can cause heart palpitations.

If you do decide to try it, don't use it after 4 until you know how it will help you. It can cause sleeplessness and right now you need the sleep more than ever.

Also you will want to google eleuthero root to see what interactions it may have with any of the medications you may take. I take several but haven't had any interactions.
