Thyroid and Lyme

Hello -

My husband is suffering from Lyme and was taking antibiotics for awhile, as well as other supplements to strengthen his immune system (prescribed by LLMD). However -- he has also Hashimotos and is taking levothyroxin to address this thyroid issue.

I am arguing that he should keep his immune system strong (herbs, healthy eating, etc.) so it can effectively battle the Lyme infection, but he is very concerned that if he strengthens his immune system excessively, it will attack and destroy his thyroid.

Is this a valid concern? Has anyone battled lyme and thyroid issues simultaneously?

(Just for clarity, Levothyroxin is a T4 only med. medEasily confused. )

Super interested and hoping Astromzn could chime in bc I saw you post in an old thread about some immune boosting herbs Aggravating Hashi.

I had Hashi before Lyme but the thyroid levels were in range so Dr were watching and waiting until I become hypo.

I want to start Buhner and Beyond Basics now that my ATB are ending. Wondering if Buhner Bart and Lyme protocol are okay? Also Bc it's a new tick bite I'd like to throw in astralagus.

Also I'm not sure why my acute case progressed rapidly despite early treatment and diagnosis. My family members symptoms subsided but mine persist. Wonder if my Hashi is preventing full recovery -meaning my immune system is too busy attacking my thyroid to fight Lyme.
