Preparing for next LLMD visit...have questions

My follow up is on Monday. I want to ask for certain tests but want to make sure I'm not forgetting anything.

Newest/Most Bothersome Symptoms:
-light/noise sensitivity
-memory problems/brainfog/confusion
-tinnitus
-discomfort/pressure in back of head
-pain in teeth and TMJ (new)
-temperature regulation (sweating most of the time now)
-balance/coordination
-shin pain at night (not sure if bone or nerve pain)
-dizziness/lightheadedness/weakness when first getting up in morning and after standing for a long time
-edema(?) or fluid retention/swelling (It was very bothersome but I've also dropped noticeable weight within the past week without any change in diet.)

I want her to do a FT3/FT4 for thyroid, saliva test for adrenals, and I think it's called A1 for glucose levels. Also wondering if I need a hormone panel or something for hormone levels. Is there something else that may be important to check right now with these symptoms?

I'm not sure I'm going to continue seeing her but I do want some of these tests done first. Do I ask for a more aggressive abx protocol? (She only treats me with one at a time.) I'm ready to start treating with primarily herbals but I'm a little afraid to not have an abx.

Those are all 'normal' symptoms for these infections, so I'm not sure that any testing will reveal anything new for those symptoms.

Monotherapy (treating with only one abx at a time) is never recommended with these infections due to the bacteria becoming resistant to it. If you wish to continue abx treatments, I would encourage you to push for another abx.

Unless you have the best insurance coverage, I'ld save the money on labs and get started on herbals. Would you treat Lyme and Co's any differently after seeing lab results.

So is it even worth asking for these tests? If the answer is going to be "it's Lyme" then wouldn't I be better off spending the money on herbal supplements and forgetting about the labwork?

I'm only treating the Lyme and detoxing at this point. I tested negative for all cos so she isn't treating me for them.

Tests that are useful thru Lyme treatment are CMP for Liver and Kidneys, CBC for blood levels, and Vit-D3 Totals. Maybe Candida also, but that test is pretty unreliable.

The rest are good for piece of mind I guess... if you can afford them.

I would treat Bart and Babs with herbals as a challenge test and see what happens. Labs are worse for those than lyme.

I would encourage you to have your hormones tested - these can have an impact on your healing.

Traveler, what test do I ask for? i don't have insurance but I want to get anything necessary checked out.

I would encourage you to check prices of having your doctor run the tests and using the labs listed on this page for your tests: www.stopthethyroidmadness.com/recommended-labwork/

I would say definitely your thyroid, adrenals (saliva test), and DHEA levels as these things can have a heavy impact on our ability to heal. Otherwise those are mostly Neuro symptoms, have you tried taking a Benedryl to see if that helps ease those symptoms? I have to take 2 Benedryl at time to help my neuro symptoms much, because I have a high tolerance for Benedryl.

Are you currently treating for Lyme and Bart? Those are the two infections that usually cause this much Neuro symptoms.

I'm just treating for Lyme. I'm convinced I have Bart though. I want to see if my LLMD will treat me for Bart. If not, like I said, I'm prepared to start treating on my own.

I see DHEA coming up quite a bit in post. I know when I last tested my number was in the toilet. Something else to discuss with my doctor.

I agree with you and Traveler regarding the tests that were recommended.

I don't know....part of me thinks an LLMD isn't worth the money except for initial diagnosis. If I can get these tests through my regular doctor and treat with herbals on my own and save money, why not? I really have to think about this.

I can't believe how much better I feel after taking the activated charcoal again. The reason that is important is because my LLMD doesn't believe in herbals and didn't say a word about detoxing.

Pmm73, I think you are on to something. I stopped the activated charcoal at night because I've been juggling other supplements but I am definitely starting it back up again.

Many MD's STILL don't trust herbs and natural products - but that's because they trust their training more, not because it has any basis in reality. We have to remember that herbs were here and working for people LONG before pharma drugs were even created.

It's always been amazing to me that even the natural doctors I've seen have not understood detoxing and how much it can help a truly overwhelmed patient. It just makes sense to me, we have a lot of toxins, not only from these infections, but if our bodies aren't detoxing well, that means the everyday toxins we are exposed to (through food, water, air, buildings and more), aren't detoxing out either.

Detoxing was like a little revolution for my health. I was ready to quit and give up on life, then I started talking to a very wonderful lady (deejavu, here on this forum) and she helped me to get started. That's when I started talking about detoxing not only on here, but everywhere!! There are so many people that would be helped if they would just do a little detoxing (if they aren't really sick) or a whole lot of detoxing (for those that are truly overwhelmed with toxins). It was my "road back" to life after my abx failure and many decades of living with these infections.
