Dacarte,
Trav also said something on here today that was a light bulb moment for me. She said "bacteria doesn't leave the body our immune system just gets stronger and knows what to do." (I'm paraphrasing - sorry Trav). That tells me that abx would make THAT process worse, if the abx. lower our immunity.
Since I'm not life or death (although on bad days I may argue otherwise). Should I just try the herbs? My fear is I'll be sick for five more years and/or get much worse and should have listened to my LLMD who prescribed two abx for me. I had taken Doxcy for about three months July-Sept.
Thanks again Dacarte.
She is correct. It's a combo of lessening the bacterial load to give your immune system the opportunity to get stronger and "know what to do".
ABX has effectiveness. When it works, it works. Just up the ante on combating the negative side effects it will envitably have (probiotics, liver support, immune boosters, etc). It can be a delicate and challenging balance but can be done.
If you worry is what works "better", then do both. It's actually recommended by some of the best herbalist to do both at the same time. Herbs and ABX can have a synergistic relationship.
Once again, I have a bias view, because I was not able to keep that balance and walk that tight rope with ABX. It doesn't mean you cannot.
