Lauriciden (Monolaurin) Brain Herx?

Nothing really makes me herx anymore, although I do experience constant joint, muscle and bone pain but that is probably immune or infection induced. Monolaurin, however makes me feel like I've been poisoned deep in the center of my brain.

I know that in one recent study Monolaurin had good killing ability in vitro against all forms of Lyme, of course I'm not sure the bio-availability of it, if it's even absorbed. Still, when I take it (6-9g) 20min later I experience a terrible herx reaction that makes me aggressive, unable to think with mental fatigue and this mild derealized feeling.

Wondering if others have experienced this?

Oh yes that stuff does get absorbed I can tell you that. I had my worst herxes on monolaurin including bad back muscle and chest pain, mild tingling in legs turned to exteme buzzing, feeling of being drugged where I could barely wake up in the morning, facial flushing, etc.

After working through the herxing I had to stop though because it seemed to change my bowels for the worse so I never got to give it a real chance.

Okay good, others have experienced this. Yes, It feel like someone slipped cyanide into my drink. So hard to describe the feeling other than being poisoned and very aggressive. I just swear at people who ask me questions because the ability to think is very fatiguing. I'm doing again today, wish me luck.

Don't swear at me but I need to ask if you ramped up slowly because that will minimize herxing. I found that
I had to switch to the pellets which you are taking and ramp up very slowly to be able to tolerate it. You didn't just take 6-9 grams right away did you?

I started with a few pellets every other day for a few months and then bumped up to a half a gram and said screw it and did the recommended dosage (6-9g), which is three scoops. Only this amount hits me hard and seems to work. I detox too, but it doesn't really help the herx. I'm reading a lot of studies on Monolaurin and it's properties as well as other monoglycerols. They serious kill pathogens in blood and disrupt biofilms. Work great for EBV also, which I have.

LOL! I promise not to swear.

I took Monolaurin when I had candida and hated it. I stopped and only use coconut oil. I make 'bread' with it, I put it in my smoothie, I put coconut oil, coconut milk and coconut butter in my gluten free oatsI cook vegetables in it and I put it on as body moisturizer.

Found this on Monolaurin vs. CO:
Monolaurin is a single ingredient. Coconut oil, on the other hand, is a combination of 10 different fatty acids—short, medium, and long—and their monoglycerides, most all of which possess antimicrobial properties. Each one has its strengths and advantages. When combined together they work synergistically to enhance the effectiveness of the total.

Therefore, coconut oil with its 10 fatty acids and 10 monoglycerides has greater potential for fighting infection. In my opinion, coconut oil, as nature made it, is superior to monolaurin alone.

I've seen coconut oil work miracles in combating numerous infections. As a food, it is safe and easy to use and much cheaper than a dietary supplement.

monolaurin is strong, but seemingly effective...

my herx was extreme fatigue caused me to sleep 12 hrs a night for the first 3 nights i was on it, after having had insomnia the past 3 wks....

i wish all me herxes were like that
