Wish I had started bart treatment sooner

I focused on lyme first, and didn't start treating co-infections until 6 months into the process. I developed a new symptom of cramping calves, more the right side around 6 months into the process. Yesterday when the aneurysm repair check up took place, the Dr. discovered something in my artery going up to scope the brain that wasn't there in february. Being referred to a vascular surgeon. The naturopath I initially saw suspected Bart given the aneurysm repair. Oh well... grateful I have an appointment with an herbalist in 2017. Sort out what remains. Home today pretty wiped out after yesterday's procedure, nasty headache, direction to lay low for a few days. What a year! Brain aneurysm repair, diagnosed with bursitis, GERD, torn retina, vitreous hemorrhage, now another vascular issue. I'm only 57! Oh well, so much progress in other areas. Happy Thanksgiving!

Thanks! Now we know what to advise others eh? Don't tarry with bart treatment. Look at the symptom list, if some of your symptoms branch over to both lyme and bart, treat bart. Even the nurse at the hospital thought it was really odd that something should develop so quickly. Oh well, no looking back, only forwards. Yes - doing my best to rest which is hard for me. My spouse is doing Thanksgiving cooking, but I began prepping things easy, like ironing napkins, cleaning eating utensils glasses. It feels good to putter a little bit. Nasty headache today. No driving for two more days, no pool or sauna for one week, cut out my JN/Cats Claw mixture for a bit just until the punctures heal up a bit more.

I had bart dominant symptoms!!!! ...and they did come on quickly... shame on my LLND

I don't have any trouble backing off from work anymore...I'm a Pro at it...just ask my husband.

I would have added Rifampin to one of my lyme meds - no later than 4 months after starting treatment.

I have to ask...In light of all the younger members, as well as my daughter and her husband. They are practically newly weds, and he is so young! If I tell them they need to stop kissing each other (hopefully they are practicing safe sex from what I've already told her)...they're going to say "forget it, we will just die together!"

So, my question is, if going by the idea of continuing treatment for 2 or 3 months past end of last symptoms of both partners, can a person's love life then get back to normal?

The idea of never again, in this lifetime breaks even my heart.

I have been on the Buhner core protocol for lyme for 5 months and now want to add in protocol for Bartonella. I have seen huge improvement since starting this, am amazed. Taking lots of other things too,
supplements etc. But no abx.

Can I just check that what I need to add in is as follows:

Sida Acuta
Hawthorn
ECGC (but that is same as Eleuthero) which I am already taking, is that right ??
Houttuynia
L-arginine
Milk Thistle Seed

All for 30 days after symptoms have disappeared (wow made me feel empowered writing that last sentence, imagine being symptom-free) !!!

I have Buhner's book but can't find the exact Bartonella protocol in there. Would be so grateful if someone can confirm for me that above is correct and if not what are the other recommendations.

This post is FREAKING me out and I have already been on high alert since yesterday (weepy and down).

I think I may have Bart but don't really know. Tested negative for it (pos for Babs -which I'm not really treating).

I had long bone shin pain and some weird sensations on soles of feet - currently all away but I know this stuff can come and go. Also sometimes have heaviness in arms/legs.

In very simple terms that a five year old can comprehend: What should I start taking for Bart? I would love it if herbs can be listed with what they do: e.g. Red Root = good for lymph (making stuff up here).

Very freaked out about the sex part. We don't really have protected sex and now we aren't supposed to kiss our partners? Oh my goodness. The one exercise I can still do!

My son is only 14 and hasn't even begun this part of his journey - so when he does start dating he can't kiss a girl? This is too sad.

This just keeps getting better and better.

I'm with you, Huddie. I'm 43 and single but was holding out hope for "one day" meeting the one. Why bother at this point? I'm going back to re-reading the singing post lol

The thing is we can't say that it's best to treat Bart first for everyone. It just doesn't work that way. That's why I ask everyone that I talk with, what are their most prominent symptoms, and suggest that they treat that infection with the most severe symptoms first - whatever it may be.

This is no different than those that have mold issues but can successfully treat Lyme and mold at the same time.

I treated Lyme first, as it was causing seizures, but Bart was making it so I couldn't stand for more than 7 minutes at time without my legs collapsing from the pain that was body wide in that amount of time. I added in Bart treatments (had to REALLY PUSH my doc to do so!!) 3 months later.

For me it was best to work in both Bart and Lyme treatments asap, because they were causing my most serious issues, so it was safe to assume that they had created the highest bacterial loads in my body. I knew full well that I may have to come back and retreat Lyme, and possibly Bart as well, once we got past the other infections, but something told me that those bacterial levels needed to be lowered before I could get to any other infections successfully. I'm glad I followed that path, and I think it's very individual for each of us.

And, Huddie, you're right. I've been with my hubby for almost 17 years now, and when we got together I had yet to get any diagnosis other than EBV and Fibro, which I knew wasn't correct. We had a VERY long talk about our sex life, including kissing. I told him I may very well be contagious and he didn't care. He not only wanted to care for me, but refused to use any protection of any kind. pregnancy hasn't been a concern of mine for many years due to a hysto.

When he did get Lyme, it was on his own. I had a bad feeling one day about the tick he had pulled off of him (but didn't know that it was due to that) and sure enough, about a week later, he was starting to have symptoms. I had him make an appt that week with his doc and I went with him. There's no way to prove that he didn't get it from me, but that would make for quite the coincidence, since we had been intimately involved for over 15 years by that time.

+Rikky1 I am glad you're responding will to Rifampin. I cant take that yet as I believe it contraindicates with Ivermectin.

What are the most commonly used abx that have had success in treating Bart? Does it respond to monotherapy?

I hear its often coupled with Babesia. Other than Nitazoxanide which is only suspected to work against both, what meds or combos are often used to address both these days?

Going after the bug that is causing the worst symptoms doesn't always equate to the bug with the highest bacterial load. Wish it were that simple. Further many symptoms overlap and identifying what bug is causing it is like describing shades of gray. That was my problem hence the "confusion" in treatment for a long time.

Most overall effective abx for Bartonella it seems are Rifampin, Rifabutin, Levaquin, Cipro and Bactrim.

Do you think that Rifampin + Azytro is a good combo?
