I just finished my first round of Coartem. This was my second attempt. The first time I couldn't handle it. I have to wait 10 days before I start again. Did anyone here take artemisia or artemisinin on the days off Coartem? My doctor says I could do that if I wanted but I worry because Coartem already contains a derivative of artemisia in it.

My opinion is to follow the prescribed pulse schedule.
My LLMD was pretty strict about
stopping all other Rx while taking Coartem, but she is always on the cautious side.

Thanks tickbite666. That's exactly what my husband told me to do. Just checking to see what others have had success with but that may get me in trouble.

loutucky there are all sorts of non-abx things you can take for malaria before/during/after coartem. Some that come to mind are Cryptolepis, Alchornea, Olive Leaf Extract and Byron White A-BAB.

Rikky1, I may try and get a hold of my doctor and ask her about
some of those. Thanks!

along with Cryptolepis, you can also take sida acuta and alchornea cordifolia (that is Buhner's 'older' protocol for babesia)
