Avoid dental work?

I still have my upper wisdom teeth - the dentist wants to remove them...but I won't let her.

If they're not causing an issue...why mess with them?

I wouldn't have them removed now if I were you.


I have my regular dental cleanings...but haven't had any other 'work' done since lyme.

I have a amalgam filling that needs to be replaced - my dentist is not a biological dentist...uses a dam..but no oxygen...so I'm waiting as long as I can to replace it with non-amalgam.

Problem is one of them has a deep cavity and the dentist is worried about it spreading it the adjoining tooth.

Also, if I don't make it back to work by Feb 1 I will have to transition to LTD and change my insurance. As it stands now my insurance would cover 100% of the procedure. Kind of a use it or lose it type of situation.

The acids in plaque remove minerals in your tooth's hard, outer enamel. This erosion causes tiny openings or holes in the enamel — the first stage of cavities. Once areas of enamel are worn away, the bacteria and acid can reach the next layer of your teeth, called dentin. This bacteria can spread and you can also give it to others by kissing or having them eat off your utensil.

So, here you have bacteria. Now you want to remove that entire tooth and create a hole that lyme bacteria will absolutely love to congregate. Lyme goes for weak spots - every time.

You are stuck on this one. Not only are you stuck with the insurance coverage, but also with the bacteria spreading.

What a hard choice to make.

At this point, I would personally opt for a sealant on the other teeth and see if that isn't paid for 100%. That might be a good option until you get your lyme more under control. It would protect your other teeth and allow you some time to get stronger before pulling the tooth.

I guess I am completely opposite of most.
I think dental issues is one of or the main reason you get lyme and properly treating your dental is critical to regaining your health. Wisdom teeth-if they are infected need to come out the right way. A biological dds will drill out the ligament when they pull the tooth which prevents later cavitation. I would only use a biological dds.
Mercury removal is critical but only with a bioligcal dds-seriously this can be very dangerous if they don't do it right. Mercury is the second deadliest element known to man-you do not need some idiot creating mercury dust on your mouth.
Sealants-make no sense to me. Artificial chemicals on-in your body 24-7-365 that you may or may not be allergic to. if you do allow this at least get a blood test to see how your body reacts to the materials-Clifford blood test. Many sealants contain bpa plastic that get in your system-terrible for your hormones

My bottom line-see a bioligcal dds and clean up your jaw and your health will improve.

If the wisdom teeth have a deep cavity or are causing an issue of deep gingival pockets/bone loss, which promotes infection, or are in some way having a negative impact on the second molars, then and only then would I have them removed. If they are impacted and have not bothered you at all, no pain, no infection, no cavity, then I see no reason to remove them.
