I buy organic bulbs, or out of my garden in season. It can be eaten raw. I personally use a great deal of it in cooking and hope that I get enough benefit from it heated, because I prefer it that way.
But, you can put it in veggie smoothies and juicings raw. Cloves vary in size and strength, but a measured tsp. or so would be good per 8 oz of liquidated juice to start with and move up to an entire bulb if you want.
Depends on how much you enjoy the taste, I guess.
I read you can herx from it, given you've eaten quite a lot, so like any of it, increase a little at a time, or just cut back if you do feel a herx.
