Report on new Dr-an ID true to form

So - and I'm not surprised to say this - all of you were right about ID docs.

Just got out of my visit which consisted of having to sit through the "Lyme Literate Doctors don't know what they're doing, only ID doctors can treat Lyme," having my initial lyme test (through Labcorp) declared a false positive, then how my next lyme workup a month later (through MDL) was "strangely positive" after such a short period of time.

She gave me a prescription for Doxy 100mg 2x a day for 30 days and wants me to go BACK to Labcorp so she can measure that lyme test against the first one. She DID mention IV abx but wants to try the Doxy first. (I think she's convinced the Doxy will cure me.) But she didn't even do an exam; she felt my knees and elbows through my clothes as I was sitting in the chair in her office and said "Well, your joints don't feel hot."

I just sorta shook my head. I give up with these doctors.

pmm73, can you, or do you think you might want to order some herbs to maximize the effectiveness of the doxy? Because I'm afraid using it by itself will drive it into cyst form and then you'll have to go after busting them out anyway.

That's what happened to me, and I was on doxy for 3 months.

You've already been on some kind of treatment already though, no?

pmm73 - The ID guy I saw yesterday (first one I ever saw) was "devastatingly handsome" and "not mean" - but the type that only knows about and will treat, clear cut positive/negative "early lyme disease" and only with results:positive - of the inept tests. So - being handsome and not mean, are useless traits to me - as I already have a husband who is quite handsome and not mean :) I need a non-denying, informed, DOCTOR who understands the simple, scientific FACT....that there is poison from a parasite that really can destroy peoples health and lives!!! Regardless of what a fake test says.

I understand completely. I'm in search of one as well. It's not that I ever thought anyone was making up how difficult it is to get treatment; I just had hope in the back of my mind that I'd be different or my case would be different or my doctor would be different, etc, etc, etc. I actually am a very patient person; I would be okay with the "waiting to feel better" if I knew I was on the right path of treatment. It's the trial by error that annoys, saddens, and frustrates me (and the wasted time and money too).

I'm very patient, too. Patience is over-rated...here I am two years later...still treating.
Should have pushed for bart treatment much sooner....
