To assume that it can't be transmitted sexually because the scientific study has not yet been done to prove this is STUPID!

Lyme is a spirochete as syphillis is a spirochete. Syphillis is sexually transmitted....
Agree it should be treated with the caution that you would Syphilis, a highly contagious disease spread primarily by sexual activity, including oral and anal sex. Occasionally, the disease can be passed to another person through prolonged kissing or close bodily contact. Although this disease is spread from sores, the vast majority of those sores go unrecognized.
Check for any unusual sores or color changes (darkened splotches) in the mouth and gums. If your partner has symptoms then you might consider taking medicines at the same time.
I likely transmitted it to my wife. This is why I believe she got two small red ovalish splotches on her tongue which were evident but not pronounced so it would be easy to miss. She was otherwise asymptomatic.
I think I mistook this for a symptom of Bartonella when in fact Borrelia was the likelier of the two.
Her tongue remained this way unchanged for two months until we did Ivermectin (4 cycles by weight) and Nitazoxanide (3 days 500 mg q12) combo. They began to clear immediately after the Nitazoxanide (Alinia) was completed.
