Chick,
For my son I can now see signs, attention began first at around 8 years old, then knees. I remember being at a lacrosse game when he was about
11-12 and my husband and I both said "What's going on?" He looked like he was hobbling. We thought all the years of skiing had worn his knees down so he was under the care of a sports medicine surgeon. Never mentioned Lyme
My son never went through puberty at the normal time, still hasn't (this was my first real indication that something was wrong). Lyme can cause delayed puberty/growth.
He then sustained a concussion last January and everything just woke up. Still didn't think Lyme though - just that he was off from concussion. Everyone is different but in my opinion there are signs.
Thanks Yang, We will see what the school comes back with. If they let him do it we would keep him at new school. They have been awfully nice and it is a lot easier stress wise. His old school was the Harvard of private schools and I think the stress will be very real. Like you said, it's not like he will be 100%. We will see. I'll know more in the next few weeks. We have to let his old school know by end of January so we have some time.
You are very fortunate that your son is in a school that allows the missed days. He also sounds like a standout kid that he can keep up and play sports. I dream of that day
- keep sharing these inspirational stories!
