To shovel the snow or not to shovel :/

So it's been snowing here in va since last night still is and already about 6 inches on the ground. Woke up with horrible headache and pain at base of skull go figure. Part might be dehydration I'm not doing well at drinking any water while at work :/. Anyway it's going to be very cold for a few days and unless I shovel today it will all freeze and be impossible to get out. 1) I'll have to find a shovel and 2) I could barely shovel when I was healthy I'm terrified of what it will do to me and how it will make me feel sad

Is there a neighbor who can help you?

I always tell my mom and grandmother (who always insist on shoveling) to call a Church and see if they have someone who is willing to help.

You can always try calling the Fire Dept (non-emergency) and see if they know of anyone who can help.

Let them know you have a chronic illness. They should be able to help you!

Inches at a time. Stop and hydrate. Rest.

Don't rush it. Take your time.

That is how I tackled my driveway.

Well I kinda need to find a shovel first lol. Maybe my landlord would know someone who could assist

If it is light fluffy snow , instead of shoveling a leaf blower is sometimes useful to blow away the snow.(if someone has one) but Still need to use upper body but in a different way.

Also sometimes boy scouts, girl scouts and youth groups at churches like to help out.

Wishing you luck and hopefully better weather and health soon. It is so cold today. Hang in there.

It is a hard physical work. Is it possible to call a friend or somebody else to do it?

Just wanted to agree with the others on this. Try to find someone that will help. Call local Churches, and some of the other places that have been suggested. Maybe your city (if you live in the city) will have volunteers, or know of places you can contact???

Those are some great ideas as far as finding help, like the church or fire dept.

Removing deep or wet snow was always something I kinda feared when my body was all tight and twisted from this. Threw my back out enough times back then and finally invested in a medium weight snowblower. The bigger heavier ones take more effort to maneuver.

Even today with better strength and less muscle tightness, I try to take it easy on snow removal. I always do muscle release work with some or all of: Lacross or golf ball, ThereaCane and hard foam body roller, floor stretches.

We don't get a lot of snow here...but we did get one a few weeks ago...and I got out there when it was just a few inches...easier to shovel.

But, it continued to snow...so hubby had to do it again when he got home.
It's too heavy if it's left too long for me.


Are there any kids around you that you could pay $10 to do it for you?
