Today I found the cure for my back pain.

I hope the antibiotics work for you they worked for my low back pain. I had chronic SI joint pain for the past 15-16 years the same amount of time I have had Lyme. My pain was a sharp stab, always in my SI joints and would switch from side to side. The pain would flair up about 3-4 times a month and could be very debilitating. When I had the pain I would perform every orthopedic test I could think of to try and figure out what was wrong and I could never figure it out, the tests were always negative. I had unlimited access to free chiropractic adjustments that helped it feel better but it never got to the real problem. I have not had the same type of back pain for almost 2 years and I am a lot harder on my body then I use to be all thanks to a long course of amoxicillin/biaxin. This experience was a huge eye opener for me. FYI there are many types of bacteria that can cause low back pain Lyme and mycoplasma, are a couple. Look at the causes of reactive arthritis pretty much all of the bacteria listed can become chronic and cause chronic LBP.

I did put Augmentin in the drug interaction checker with Ceftin and it came up as Duplication - beta-lactam antibiotics.

Do you mean from that list you posted?

I'm not familiar with the abx you listed to treat P. Acnes bacteria .

...well, I do know that clindamycin can be used as part of Babesia treatment. I've seen vancomycin mentioned here a few times..but that's about it.

I searched it on the forum. I am concerned about C Diff getting in the way of my treatment as I was runny after 7 days of Augmentin treating the eye infection.

Seems vancomycin gets a nod from several members vs C Diff and general satisfaction. Thank You.

PS: Does Vanco need to be tapered? I thought I saw a mention of this.

How long? Was back pain resolution the goal or a bonus?

A huge bonus I wasn't expecting this at all, I started low does biaxin/amoxicillin for Lyme. My Dr. never changed my prescription or increased the does so I eventually left after 7 months. I was surprised that during this time I never had back pain like I had before and I still haven't had it....I noticed that after going fishing for crawdads, being exposed to raw chicken, that I developed my back pain....

Wow that is really super. Now that you mention it as a kid I grew up on Long Island and we would frequently go set crab traps with raw chicken. Im sure handling crabs that my skin was cut or broken several times. A decade later my back is starting to deteriorate. Could it be possible?

Also the doses they are using now are extremely high, yet you did 7 mos. of low doses. How bad was your back? Do you still have RA?
I see they use Minocycline and other tetracyclines for RA, yet I ddint have improvement in back pain after about 6 weeks of Doxy. My back loved Augmentin.

Ive always had dental issues and lots of mercury filings. The Lyme caused my last 4 real teeth to rot from the inside out. Ive had the pain for 28 years.

Others seem to have done as little as 6 weeks of IV Penicillin in studies and cured back pain. I am wondering if I should give the Penicillin a try first and if I could do oral Penecillin. Is it worth a try before going crazy with 100 days of Augmentin tid.

What do you guys think?

What are the risks if I do Augmentin and feel better after 2 months and stop? Maybe I could go for 2 weeks more after feeling better for a week. Cant I just pick up where I left off if it comes back? Is there a risk of anaerobic bacteria becoming resistant? I've never heard of resistant P. acnes before but prior to a couple days ago I never heard of P. acnes

So much to consider. I definitely want to go after the back pain. I don't want to die of C Diff.

Im not a doctor, but I sure do play one more often than Id like to and with good success so far. I don't want to screw this one up. open to all opinions because before I start would be the time to ask.

I wrote a really long detailed reply ..in which i said you may want to try mino,rifampin ,tini and zith with diflucan and 100 billion probiotics daily and no sugar or gluten is( not optional)

Also a little swiss rife and start zapping for demodex flukes and ascaris ...

I searched again and Cipmox CV (generic Augmentin) is .47c per pill. I didn't see that the first time.

I am going to order 300 of them tomorrow. I will email asking for a deal. Couldn't hurt?

No more Diflucan please. 6 months was enough. (Look who's back on Diflucan, me!).

I was doing 800 mg per day at certain points, but it worked (mostly as I have to finish it off with Itraconazole. There is something hanging around but it is not that bad, it just is).

OK Plan A is augmentin. Plan B will be mino,rif,tini,zith bomb.

I can take a prophylactic amount of an azole. Most lufernuron I hear is pesticide grade. You are right I should add another abx. I have some Doxy in the freezer but anything else I would have to acquire.
Maybe the vanco, maybe something cheaper and save vanco in case of C Diff.

Awaiting a 2nd response from ADC. They did get back to me quickly but stared through the question with Lyme brain themselves even though I was specific. Hey we are all human. I just politely asked again.

Thanks! I remember reading this study and got excited thinking something could actually work! I looked at my MRI report and it said Type 2 - hopes dashed - but I researched any positive results and didn't find much. While I was on minocycline, I had no changes. I've been on Bactrim for a couple months now and I have to say, there are some days where my back feels like it's not so broken, lol! Sadly, I can't take any of the "-cillins," so I'm hoping Bactrim will help some. I hope you have great results, keep us updated! I'll be rooting for you and living vicariously through your improvement
