Dr J thinks my gallbladder is preventing me from getting better. I'm getting it removed in 2 weeks. I got a HIDA scan and my score was a 17 and it showed disfunction. It also took an extra hour for my GB to show up on the scan and that is very abnormal. I have a lot of pain in that region and it refers to the left side as well. I'm nauseas a lot and my entire rib cage is constantly sore.

Anyone here have their GB out? What were he results? Did it help you get better?

LymeWorse haven't had the gall bladder removed but i can definitely see how that could be inhibiting your healing esp if it's leaky, irritated, etc.

how is your liver? usually if your gallbladder is compromised the liver also has some issues. assuming that's not the case you're going to have to pay more attention to ensuring your liver is as healthy as can be and be careful with the fat soluble foods as you don't know how you're going to do when you're constantly getting bile released directly into the intestines. from what i understand most people's bodies adjust to the lack of a gallbladder but early on you have to be careful.

i know it sucks to have this removed but if it clears the path to your full wellness that's great news as like its sister the appendix you can live without it without almost any effects.

Mine was causing chronic vomiting of bile that could only be relieved by Demerol and later I discovered the hot tub could calm the flare.

I was on the Fentanyl Patch at the time.

I searched everywhere on the net and found that long term use of Fentanyl can make the valve on it lazy.

No doctor ever warned me that this could happen nor made the connection. One doc in the ER loosely did by calling me an addict. Thanks dic! I mean doc.

Switched to Oxycontin and the problem stopped. (quit oxy 5 months ago using Kratom).

I wish you could heal it instead. I wish you the best.

another reason i hate big pharma they don't create cures they just create lifelong clients!

My liver is okay according to lab work. I have a small cyst. My GB is the issue.

I had my gall bladder removed about 7 or 8 years ago. Mine was completely blocked, full of stones of all sizes and 'gunk' (sludge). There was no way I was going to survive with it left in, as it had started leaking by the time I got into surgery 3 days later.

While I can't say that it's necessarily helped my healing, I know leaving it in wouldn't have helped my health at all. I do have to use bile acid supplements now in order to process fats properly now though.
