I finally have my pure nystatin. Great!
The handout from my doctor says 1,000,000,000 units : 1/4 tsp by mouth 4 times daily.
But the jar says 1 scoop (0.5CC) (1 MILL UNITS).
I don't understand the discrepancy, so I'm asking my clinic/doctor about it.
What units is your pure nystatin?
I'm having a hard time comparing this to the recommended drmyhill website. : |
And did you space it out from other meds/herbals/foods? What is best time to take it? I'm going to have a hard time taking it 4 times per day.
What did you take it with?
Thanks.
A pretty common dosing for Nystatin is 500,000 units x 2 in the morning, then again in the evening. But this is a tablet form of Nystatin, which is what I take. So I'm getting about
2 million units per day.
If your directions are saying 0.5 cc = 1 million units and to take 1/4 tsp x 4 = 1 tsp per day.
My math is this:
1 tsp = 5cc (ish)...then that would amount to 10 million units a day.
That seems high to me. So good on you for catching this! Let us know what the doctor's office says.
