Blood shot eyes specific to anything???

Anyone know if this is specific to anything or what it means to us?

I read it can be a Babesia symptom.

I had it and it seems to me it was just good ole lyme.

Hubby has it also and so far I see no signs of co-infections in him, but they could come out to play once I get his lyme better under control.

And for another opinion, for me it was Bartonella....

After three of the most knowledgeable posters on this forum weigh in, we have 1 vote Babs, 1 vote Borrelia, and 1 vote Bartonella.

I think this sums up why deciphering which infection causes which symptom is so difficult tongue

Lightlift, I have the same problem.
Does yours come on more often in the evening? That's what seems to happen to me.

I've tried unsuccessfully to treat all three aforementioned infections to date, with no luck.

Next I'm going to try going after parasites. I know toxoplasmosis likes the eyes, as do some other parasites I believe.... sorry to muddle this up even more smile

I've been wondering the same thing. I look so tired all the time now with my bloodshot eyes.

One of my first symptoms was bloodshot eyes. I had it for 18 months. I looked stoned, which wasn't cool since I was in nursing school and all the nursing instructors looked at me suspiciously every day. lol

I have no idea what one caused it though. In addition to borrelia, I do have babesia and I suspect bart so sorry I am of no help there.

At the time I didn't know I had any of this and tried every drop the drs would give me. Until, my eye dr finally gave me steroid drops. That did the trick, haven't had the stoner look again, but my eyes are not white and healthy looking by no means. I wouldn't do steroids again cause I am not sure if steroids in the eyes are a no go now that I know I have lyme.

When this all first started and I thought it was just fungal, my eyes were always red an irritated on wake but would get somewhat whiter as the day progressed.

Two docs said it was allergies. None of their 5 different eye drops helped the redness and itching. Then I put myself on Doxy 100mg bid and the eyes got white. It didn't take long for the eyes to get white. I was pulsing for 10 days on and 5-7 days off for about 6 weeks and then felt kidney fatigue and stopped the Doxy but continued the Fluconazole for 6 months.

This had the greatest positive impact on the other eye issues. I got the yeast under control but then symptoms all too specific to Lyme began and I knew it was time to try something else. I then too went after nematodes.

I did another 5 day Doxy short course down the road a bit and that time the kidneys felt fine but I plan to continue keeping the Doxy courses short if and or when I do use this medication again.
