Our sons Dr. suggested that we do a once amonth IV antibiotic for our son along with his IVIG treatment.
He has been on oral zyth ofr over 18 months different doses and now has awful yeast.
He suggested Ivanz or rosphin. Our son has really bad late stage Batonella, that is causing seizues we can't control. He has failed 11 seizure meds. Most make him worse.
We don't know what to do..

There really are no difference in success rates in oral or IV abx, and the IV abx come with greater risk, due to the IV being used. But, the one time when it is necessary to use IV abx is when the digestive system is too compromised to be using oral meds.

I would encourage you to try treating the Candida first, as it can still happen even when a person is on IV abx: /www.cdc.gov/fungal/infections/hospitalized.html

I would however encourage you to talk to your doc about at least changing abx - staying on only one abx for 18 months isn't good. These infections, once chronic, don't heal when the person is only using one abx (monotherapy).

Yes, I agree.
We have stopped the zyth, 3 weeks ago and using caprylic acid and undicodic acid. The yeast he has is resisitant to itroconozoles.
We are trying to slowly add Japenese knotweed. 1 drop topical 2x per day and one drop every other day. This is how sensitive he is.
I was up to 6 drops 3x per day of Sida and he began having grand mal seizures every couple of days.
stopped everything. and will start very slow with Buhners basic protocol.

That said the Dr. wants to do the IVs. I am afraid with his sensitivity he will crash beyond belief.

Laurie - This Dr. who is treating your son doesn't sound like he is lyme literate.

Bartonella should not be treated with zithromax alone...not only is one antibiotic enough, but that isn't even one of the 'big guns'.

...and going on for 18 months with no improvements...doesn't make sense.

Are you willing, able to travel? There is a Pediatric LL Dr. in New Haven CT who is awesome.

Something to consider - I started having seizures due to toxin load being too high. I had to undertake a massive (and long!) detoxing of my body to stop them and the random passing out that I was having.

I don't know if this is what is causing your son to have grand mal seizures, but it would be worth looking into.

We are going to a LLD, Dr. H, But I think our son fell through the cracks because we our apts. we always with his assist. I finally put my foot down.
Miles is 21 so no longer pediatric. I have sent all his records to Dr. F in N.Y. to review and get her input.
As for detoxing. We do Epsom salt baths, Taksumi charcoal, lemon water, quercetin, milk thistle. Always open to hear more.

I edited your post to change the LL Dr.'s names to initials only.
We don't post the full names on here (except for a small number of very well-known ones who advertise they're treating Lyme).

If I knew what State Dr. H. was in, i would remove him from my list of LLMD's.


I'm glad you are getting an opinion from a different Dr.
I would change Dr.'s if I were you.

Some barts are succeptable to rocephin .it has helped me ....consider rife ...sida and houttynia are powerful ...

is rocephin only IV or can it be done orally as well.
Did you have abig herx when you started?
How long have you been on it?

rocephin is only IV - but it is from the class of cephalosporins

So an oral substitute - would be Ceftin ...or Omnicef (Omnicef is a third generation, ceftin is second generation)
