Since I am going to be treating my P. acnes spine infection with 100 days of Augmentin (Amoxacillin 500mg Clavulanic acid 125mg) and be taking it 3 times daily, I am half way to the Amoxacillin/Tinidazole Protocol for Lyme outlined here as treatment option number 5 as outlined in the link below:
www.treatlyme.net/treat-lyme-book/lyme-disease-antibiotic-guide/So I decided to order quantity 300 of Tinidazole 500mg as well so I could treat Lyme at the same time. I mean might as well, right? I intend to match the dosing schedule for the Tini by taking 3pills two times per day for 2 weeks on and 2 weeks off for at least 3 to 3.5 months and then reassess or continue.
I was hoping to gather the experiences of those who have tried this protocol at any time. I would like reflections on what to expect or cautions.
How long did you remain on this protocol, what it did for you and how soon, as well as where to go from here (if anywhere)?
Any insights at all, really.
I've had Augmentin before so no allergy concern.
If I made no adjustments to what I initially intended to do I would be falling 500mg short of the daily recommended Amoxicillin dose in this protocol by taking 3 Augmentin daily along with Tinidazole (500mg) 3 pills two times daily pulsing 2 weeks on followed by two weeks off.
Although getting the extra amoxicillin (500mg) pills locally should be easy, is it necessary or should 1500mg per day be enough since 3 pills of Augmentin taken daily would add 325mg of Clavulanic acid which makes Amox more effective and for longer.
Whatever you tell me wont be interpreted as medical advice. I am looking for an educated guess from anyone who would have enough education on the matter to make their guess an educated one.
To make it fun for all, whether educated on the subject or not, I've included a poll where the only requirement to participate is to possess good intuition. (Check this, the poll may not have posted after all).
