If you could see any LLMD...?

Who would you see?
Which Lyme doctors have the best results or the most street creds amongst us Lymies?

What you can do is to list them by their initials, and state. Let's pick on a well known LLMD that has been all over the tv, and has traveled widely to give talks - he's NOT "in hiding". LOL! It's Dr. Richard Horowitz.

So, you could say Dr. R. H. in NY to refer to him. Then, if you wish to get more information on that specific LLMD, you could email the member to ask questions - that way the information is vague on the forum, and specific in a private email.

But, it's not an option...too far to travel...

I enabled my email. I feel like I need to see someone really experienced. My dr is extremely caring and wants to learn but I cannot be his guinea pig. I just can't. I've sacrificed too many years to this stupid disease already, my kids are missing out on an active and present mom. It sucks. I need to start getting better! I feel like once I make some leeway, I will be better able to start handling some aspects myself but mentally I feel so foggy and stupid. I just want that expertise from someone.

If Buhner was an MD, that's who I'd want to be treated by. If cost and distance were no issue.

But that's stretching the parameters of your question a little bit, I'm afraid. Though it does give you an idea of who's protocol and attitude is comfortable to me.

Hehe this!! LLMD?? None, nada, zip. LLND/LLLAc/lyme literate herbalist? There are a few and i'm pretty happy with the one I'm seeing. I saw an LLMD for a little bit and it didn't sit right with me. I feel like 90% of their attitude is in aggressively pushing antibiotics, 5% in probiotics, and 5% in weaksauce use of herbs. I personally don't buy that pharmaceutical abx should be a priority approach and i feel like reliance really inhibits creativity with this illness. Buhners approach makes way more sense when you start considering the multifunctionality of the herbs in terms of inhibiting microbial adhesion, downregulating inflammatory pathways, inhibiting quorum sensing, degrading biofilms, targeting multiple bacterial metabolic pathways, stimulating t-cell function etc. I'd rather have Buhners 3 books on Lyme/co on my desk than 3 LLMD's in a room together LOL

Psil there are some that promote herbs and homeopathy. For example my current doctor does both. He knows I don't want abx and he doesn't bring them up.

That's awesome! If i had found one like that i might feel differently. What i like about my LLLAc/LLND was that he was trained in herbs so there's no question there. My LLMD tried to put me on tinidazole, zithromax, minocycline, sida acuta, and artemesia all at once. I ditched her and took the sida anyways and almost destroyed myself from that alone. No way i would have survived her protocol

DS sees Dr. J in DC's pediatric person and at present we feel we can't get much better than that! Luckily we live nearby.

While I personally like the herbal route for treating, it just doesn't work for our DS who is well enough to attend school much of the time and can barely adhere to the abx/supplement/herbs we are doing due to time constraints/school regulations so it works for us for now and we still see progress. Pulsing has been more gentle for him than daily abx.

Hopefully as DS matures he will be able to move toward an herbal route for maintaining remission.

And Chick, DS has been pulsing abx for 14 months now and is expected to be in treatment at least 18 months, maybe more. It takes a LONG time to get to remission if one is late stage.

Is that 18 more months....or 4 more (on top of the 14 he's already done)?

I have seen 3....one for parasites,one for functional med...and one for iv abx..not including dom ,chiro ,apitherapist,accupucturist and herbalist. ..plus rifers kineseolgists and forums....no 1 md can do all that..not even 1 town ...

if i had my druthers and caudwell like money i would start a lyme center with celebrity backing in a hotel resort like setting with scholerships and sliding scales with all of above ...oh and im about to add hbot....and searching ivig and stem cells....i would make a doc with a lttle dr j ,little dr k and some jay davidson ,corson and mcyntyre

downwd gave me inspiration to do lyme tours here in sw ..im going to get that going as a start...anybody got yolandas #?

Bumping...I know this is an older thread, but anyone out there have any new LLMDs they would see if they could?? And why??? I feel like I am being taken to the cleaners with my new one, at $1500/visit and $1100 montly phone consults. He is very intelligent and caring but I CANNOT do monthly follow ups at those prices.

Not a new one...but now I do see the one that I posted about in this thread....lol

Dr. J's initial consult is less than $1500. And the follow ups quite a bit less than yours' as well.
And, the appointments are not monthly....3-4 months apart for awhile, then 6 months apart.

Literally flipping a coin to decide between Dr J and another fellow that works out of Rockville Md and Charlottesville Va that I will call Dr F. Of course will all know of Dr J, but I do not see anything on Dr F here.

Just very tough to decide, leaning towards Dr F at the moment, Girlie you might get an email today, lol.
