Anyone here get botox? What was your experience?

Won't sugarcoat this, just would love to get rid of the frown lines between my brows!

Has anyone gotten Botox or Dysport for frown lines and if so what was your experience?

I have chronic lyme and confections but have been on strictly herbs for about a year. Typically have one or two low grade symptoms per day, feel quite good for the most part. I use all organic body care products and close to organic makeup shampoos etc.. so on some levels it seems gross to inject anything into my face but maybe I am overthinking it.

I know these injections are a neurotoxin so not looking for the health cons or alternatives. Just experiences from these who have used it to perk up their appearance.

Well, since you already know about the potential health concerns - those that have had food poisoning may not respond to it, particularly if they have had to get the antitoxin injection.

Thanks Traveler for your response. If food poisoning was someones experience (a horrible one) then why wouldn't they share that?

I was referring to a general list of potential hazards of botox that can occur for anyone. I would appreciate personal experiences from those with chronic TBI's that got Botox for some facial lines. After writing this post I don't know if I could actually go ahead and get them because I work so hard to be healthy. Still curious though.

I have 3 acquaintances that have botox.... They all are friends of a plastic surgeon. I have watched all of them get injections and they look hideous when first injected. Their lips were so huge!!! It took a day for it to settle down and for me to get used to their new look.

I never did it. I do eat collagen and hydrate a lot. I use sun block or wear a hat (and this is the best thing you can do!)

Some people just get wrinkles. My Mom has very few, so I think I won't get that. But old does happen.

I think natural beauty is so gorgeous, wrinkles or not. Natural hair versus colored. You just can't make yourself look naturally beautiful like the real thing, IMO.

I do bee tox ...it works better and kills lyme ...look it up it remove scars tighten skin ...botox is short for botulism toxin you know ?

I know this is old post, but if you are still considering Botox, you may want to google Debbie Gibsons story! It brought her Lyme to light.

not surprises, the toxin in botulism has a similar affect as the neurotoxin in lyme, which is to suppress the body's acetylcholine levels.

Hi sunny40, so my experience could be an exception but I thought I'd share anyway! A little over a year ago I was feeling so rotten with myself, I've aged soooo much (my last post was all about looking and feeling old!!!) so I went to this doctor who happened to know a lot about Lyme and she did a lot of skin procedures. I was thinking of trying some type of light therapy or something like that, but she told me why don't you do a little dysport (another type of Botox) between your eyebrows to get rid of your frown. She promised me it was totally safe, so I did it! A couple days later I felt like I had the flu, then headaches set in for 3 solid months! It was hell! I don't know if it's because of the Lyme or if I just had a bad reaction to it, all I know is I cried a lot afterwards and wished so badly I didn't do it! Sorry wish I could say it went fine!
