I got one thing to say after suffering with this crap for over 30 years....Dead would have been an improvement. No for some of us it couldn't have been worse. Many HAVE died from this, and suffered horribly first. You don't have to live in a third world country.

What would you feel like if you were crying in pain because it feels like someone is trying to rip your arm off at the shoulder? Or breaking your leg in two at the shin by forcing the knee and foot together front wise? You hear that girl scream in the video? That was me many times. I can get my boyfriend on here to verify that because he had to listen to it many times. I've tried to block all that black bad crap out but frankly this whole thread has made me very irritated.

The idea that any of us that have barely lived through the what these infections have done to us, or even the herxes from some of these drugs, have wanted to or did compare our lives to "Disney land" fairy tales on tv are a down right insult.

I am sorry. I've tried to be neutral and under control in this thread. It is fine to say what gets you through whatever, but when you start saying what others should or should not think...philosophically or whatever, we do not do that here.

This thread was emotionally charged, and I was watching it last night. I didn't post because I was only wanting to watch over it, and I was herxing (LOL!), which as we know is not a good place to come from when posting on an emotional thread.

Having been one that laid in bed, close to death, having had my childhood heavily impacted, the course of my adult life changed forever, I can say I've suffered a great deal for the last 46 years. Is all hope lost? NO.

Have I found some good in the midst of the horrid events in my life (some of which were of direct result of the infections because I couldn't work to support myself)? You bet I have. Why? Because I refuse to live a life of misery only.

But, let me tell you what I saw in this thread - compassion. We do live a hard life when we have these infections, and yet, we have been able to come to a peaceful ending on an emotionally charged thread.

I think that alone speaks very highly of each person. We were able to remain reasonable during times of being quite ill, and some of us are being heavily impacted in a very negative way by these infections. And I'd like to say thank you for that - we can't even expect that from healthy people!!!

And, Antonio - a word to you, simply because you and I have talked a lot, especially in the beginning. Your writing is still amazing. You have the beautiful ability to write in a way I can only dream of being able to express myself in. Please, never, ever give that up. Who knows what you will one day accomplish with those writing skills - maybe you will be "our" voice one day.

So my thoughts after a brief hazy glance through my pain meds. I don't think it's fair to say we should compare ourselves to "the truly unfortunate". We are all dealt our cards and nobody has a perfect deck so why compare ourselves to others? I had plenty of things to complain about before Lyme disease and while i certainly consider them petty now it's all relative and our only measuring stick for suffering is our own experiences. I have seen poorer and sicker folk with much bigger smiles on their faces. So if we need a reason to think it can be worse we don't need to compare ourselves to kids in Africa or whatever. This isn't a contest. We simply need to remember how much better off we are with hope and love in our life. With Lyme and without. Lyme has been a spiritual process for me not because I'm always looking at how much worse the situation can be, but because it's taught me how much better I can be regardless of the situation.
