Astragalus for those of us with long term infection?

I thought bruhner says to hold off with astragaus unless with a possible exception. I can't remember the reasoning but have noticed some of you are taking it or will be taking as a preventative. I believe there is a biochemical reason for him veering us away. I'll have to get out my book. So much research!

I currently stay away but have been infected twice and am scared I am living right in the nest... Aka the woods. Until I move and even after I need a preventative. And with small children the chemical clothing just sounds toxic.

Or a severe herx, if we are talking about astragalus.

Buhner suggests that after a person with chronic Lyme can take astragalus after 6 months of having no symptoms, or at the beginning of a new infection. He also states that some people are able to slowly titrate up to the dose, even though they currently have chronic Lyme as well - but that this is not the majority of people.
