Yes, I get your wondering about this. . Convention MD's will only give you only short term Doxy if your lucky - any they only recognize lyme while ignoring what else comes with it. Plus thats insurance and CDC driven.

An LLMD (non CDC) gives you the works, 3 or sometimes 4 at once. More covered. Still no guarantees as YOUR SPECIFIC immune system has a lot to do with it.

Think of all the people exposed to tick bites and have no symptoms- they prob have a great immune system against specific "bugs".

In the non-lyme public , some people get colds all the time but never the flu and vice versa. The immune system has many parts can be effective in one area but not in another.

This is a loaded question lol.

My take:

Borrelia is a much more hardy, sophisticated, and intelligent bacteria than the average run of the mill bacteria. Hundreds of thousands if not millions of years of evolution and Borrelia is still here, that's saying something about this organism.

Due to bacteria's quick life cycle, evolution happens at a much faster rate. It can learn and evolve as quickly as one round of antibiotics, thus becoming elusive if not out right resistant. Not to mention the multiple negative effects antibiotics can have on the body. Antibiotics are simplistic compounds that bacteria can evolve from much quickly versus multiple compounds found in herbs.

It's why trees and plant life aren't dying left and right from bacteria, fungus and other microbes.

Antibiotics are not magic pills. It's great for severe and acute situations to prevent death and for the person to recover enough (whether it's lyme or something else) to take other action to recover the rest of the way. It's not supposed to be a long term remedy, but we (society) treat it like it it is.

I took it for a 4-6 weeks. Bounced back to about 60-70% and went all natural the rest of the way.

From what I have seen and been through, it is as Astroman said. Regular doc gave my girlfriend a round of doxy with her tick bite. She got the abx the day of her bite and she had no symptoms. No lyme so far for her and that was 2 years ago. I went to an LLMD and he gave me Biaxin and Ceftin. I had all kinds of symptoms and my bite was in April and I saw the LLMD in August.

My take on it is depending on how long those organisms have been in the body, how wide spread they are, and in what stage or form.

If the borrelia, for instance, has made a biofilm or cyst to disguise itself, then it requires abx small enough to get through the blood brain barrier and cause it to break apart.

Mono treatment that can't penetrate the BBB isn't adequate, and can actually drive the borrelia to form the barrier around itself.

Having known affective abx for the different forms allows it to have a broader success rate.

I have met people treated per CDC (and right away) that are actually fine. So it does happen, and they gone on with life......

Then there is the other side to it, people who were not fine after CDC treatment. The difference? - the bugs involved and their SPECIFIC immune response. Its part genes I suppose- the immune part and if your immune is already compromised.

There are genes even specific for thyroid disease susceptibility.YEP! Per 23andMe.

So if you get immune compromised, almost guaranteed it will take out your thyroid. I have both, coincidence? I think not, since I had lyme too. Threes company.

One antibiotic should only be given if it's an accute infection.

Lots of people who catch it early, within days...or a few weeks take doxycycline and are fine.

Burrascano recommends -abx until sign/symptom free for 4 weeks ( 6 weeks minimum )- with just a bulls-eye rash and no dissemination.

But the Docs aren't giving 6 weeks ...they are given two weeks generally.

Sad...because they could be 'knocking it out' early on...by a few more weeks of doxy.

As far as the co-infections go...I don't know why they don't need to be treated if caught early...maybe they haven't had a chance to flourish...yet?
