Day 2 of Biaxin....I'm freezing!

It's been warmer here in NJ the past two days, but I can't seem to get warm. Last night, I slept in flannels and a sweatshirt with two blankets! Today, I still wearing my long down winter coat. I just can't seem to get warm.
I also feel very fatigued.

Wondering if these bugs are trying to lower my body temp so they can survive? If not, what else could be happening? I don't see any side effects of Biaxin that could explain this.

If this is new, it sounds like a herx, sorry.

There could be two things going on that I'm aware of - one is as you said, it's temperature dysregulation caused by the bacteria affecting that part of our body. The other thing could be that your blood is "thickened" and it's not flowing as freely so it's not warming your body like it should be.

Drink warm everything - nothing cold at all. Stick to soups and stews for now, as they are also warming (and generally more easily digested). Continue to dress warmly too. You can use a heating pad to help you maintain a warmer situation too - just be careful to not burn your skin!!!

Talk to your doctor, they should be able to figure out just what is causing this and if there is something you can do about it. I would hate to start guessing at what the exact cause is and get it wrong.

I had bouts of super cold where I could not get warm. I was "cold to the bone" as they said. I just did as you did, dressed warm and used blankets.

I think mine was just lyme. It went away with treatment.

Thanks, Traveler. I'm thinking the bugs got used to a "safe" environment since I was off everything for almost three weeks, and now they're being shaken up by the Biaxin. (I'm not really sure that's what's happening but it makes sense in my head lol) I certainly didn't expect to herx or feel any effect so quickly...this stuff is no joke! (Or maybe I'm just very sensitive to everything lol)

As I said, it's hard to know just what's going on for us, but talk to your doctor- especially if this continues.

I had temperature dysregulation for quite a few months, and it was no fun at all! I couldn't handle being in temps that weren't between about 74 and 82. Below 74 and it took me (literally) 3 days to warm up, and anything above 82 and I started having heat exhaustion symptoms. Completely miserable, as I was "locked up" in my home day and night in order to control the temperature around me better.

As you said though, it could be a really fast herx due to your being off treatment for 3 weeks.

I sure hope this is just a 'passing thing' for you!

Thanks PeteZa...btw, no longer reacting to the Protein Essentials so I think it was the coffee smile

And thanks again Trav....I'm in such disbelief in a way...I usually feel better the first week on abx and then herx around 7-10 days. Definitely blindsided this time.

Oh Geez!! It's bad enough when we know it's coming, but for it to blindside us is just not nice!!!

Glad it wasn't the collagen... but sad that you can't drink the coffee at work.

Oh, I can drink coffee, I think I was having a reaction to the type of coffee we have at work for whatever reason. I can either bring my own brand in or buy it....but no way am i giving it up! lol

LOL! I don't blame you!! I wish I never had to!! I LOVE coffee in the am! I've learned to not drink it at all though in the afternoons as I will always be mindful of the issues I now have with my adrenals.
