Best Lyme Protocol?

Well, please understand that there is no one good protocol for most people. It may be due to genetic differences in the people, the different strains we are infected with, or both.

With that said though, those symptoms will most likely go away with treatments. Are you currently detoxing well and daily? Treatments will often cause herxing (an increase in symptom severity or new symptoms) and detoxing can help keep them at lower levels.

I've had to treat my EBV for help with fatigue - do you know if you have EBV?

Be sure to have your diet in a good place - no sugar, low carbs, healthy lean protein and so on?

I like Buhners personally for the very reason that it is amenable to personal needs. Plus his books are awesome

For me the leg weakness and fatigue were my worst symptoms. I started Buhner's protocol a year ago and have found Eleuthero used before 4 pm for fatigue and Muscle Tone by Woodland's Essence to be helpful.

If you are having fatigue due to lack of sleep (which is common with Lyme and co's) then you need to find a remedy for that. My LLMD suggested L-Tryptophan which has done wonders for me. I added melatonin at night as well and that helps also.

You will need to find the right method for you and the only way to do that is to experiment with different herbs and methods.

Traveler - As far as detoxing goes, I am taking charcoal pills away from all other supplements right before bed and drinking a TON of water throughout the day making sure I am using the restroom quite frequently. I have been tested for EBV and it came back negative. Not sure whether or not to trust the results though. Is die off usually worse at night? Sometimes I wake up to get water and am so thirsty and dizzy and its hard to keep my balance on the way to the kitchen.

Psilociraptor - I have read a lot about Buhners protocol but can never find a good place to get the supplements and dosage instructions. Can you tell me a little about it as far as cost and where to get it? Thanks!

Bluelyme - I am assuming the stevia extract that comes with the cowden protocol will do a good job at breaking the biofilms then? Never heard of bee venom. Ill look at that.

Denikeef - Thanks for the input! I actually get more than enough sleep but it never seems to be enough. I typically get easily 8 - 10 hours of sleep each night because I am always so exhausted. Especially around 9PM each evening.

OldSalty - I honestly have no idea what my symptoms line up with. To me it sounds like EBV because it really is just mostly fatigue and brain fog and no joint pain. In fact, there are times that I almost doubt I have Lyme and wonder if it is just viral like EBV, but my tests come back negative. Do you know of any of the co-infections that specifically cause fatigue, lightheadness and brain fog?

Nic, what about Mono? I don't know if it tests the same as EBV or not, MY brainfog is heavy today and can't remember, although Mono alone would resolve in that amount of time you're speaking of....(a year)

Do you have mono? I got tested for mono as well but it was also negative. That was a few months after the fatigue started. I was told these tests are not accurate unless done within a couple weeks of getting mono. And I say a year but its probably close to like 9 months. Ive heard mono can take around that period of time to start improving in some people.

I have also read on some places that you should do a parasite cleanse before you start these protocols. Has anyone done this? I tried Parasmart a few months ago and actually saw some scary things passing. I probably shouldve kept it going but I started having heart palpitations that got pretty scary at times.

I did a few rounds of Parastroy a few years after starting my aggressive ABX regimens while taking a break with ABX treatment and trying a few rounds of coartem. Dr K always treats his new lyme patients for parasites first before anything else. That protocol is heavy on Rx and published many places on the web.

-Biltricide (600 mg) twice daily for two days
-Ivermectin 12 mg one tablet four times per day for fourteen days (take at the same time as Pyrantel Pamoate)
-Pyrantel pamoate, 1000 mg per day at bedtime for fourteen days. Fill at Key Pharmacy
-Albenza, 200 mg (after completing fourteen days on Ivermectin and Pyrantel). Two tablets twice per day for fourteen days
-Alinia 500 mg (after completing Albenza)- Two twice per day for fourteen days

Order of treatment: Biltricide-Ivermectin-Pyrantel-Albenza-Alinia

Wow that seems really intense. My Doctor put me on alinia for two weeks but all it does was make me nauseous. Did you feel better or see results using parastory? I would definitely rather use prescriptions like the ones you mentioned but I dont think my doctor would prescribe all of them..

No, I didn't see any significant improvement, nor herx, from the Parastroy. At that time were were thinking I had a mepron resistant strain of Babs, and was looking at other options. Treating parasites was an obvious check-off item to try. Ended up Bart was the main reason for hitting a plateau at about 50% healed.

Nasty bart. I'm hearing that more and more.
