I would double check the amount you are taking - could it be 1,000 mcg? That's micrograms, not milligrams. 1,000 mgs a day is a very large dose.
I did find this: "Doses up to 1,000 mcg per month of injected vitamin B-12 have no toxic effects in those who have pernicious anemia but are otherwise healthy. The most common side effects of vitamin B-12 injection are diarrhea and swelling. Other symptoms that are less common include muscle pain, weakness and cramps; intense thirst and frequent urination; coughing, wheezing and shortness of breath; and fast heart rate and dizziness. If you are allergic to any of the components of the injectable vitamin, you may experience swelling, redness, hives, rash, itching and/or difficulty breathing or swallowing."
At the bottom of this article:

I use oral Methyl-B 12 and my daily dose is only 1500 mcg daily.
What Traveler says is exactly what I'm prescribed....1,000 mgs a month. And that is 1 ml. a month injected.
And I too have malabsorbtion issues. Mine was very insufficient when first prescribed.
As Traveler suggested, be vigilant about
re-testing. Too much is not good. I wouldn't wait more than a month to re-test, with that amount.
