Has anyone had good results from artimisinen? Can you share what experiences you have had with it?

I did herx on it. Well, I think I did. I got an increase in my shivering (nervous system related)..and in fact woke up one night shivering and having an emotional herx (crying, despair)
I did several rounds of it (I don't have my notes here...but I'm thinking about
8 rounds of 4 days on and 11 days off)
I don't know if I got any improvement after that...
I am back on it again..with Mepron and minocycline (all pulsed)
You are pulsing it...not taking it daily, right?

For babesia, my naturopath has me pulsing it 2 weeks on, then 2 weeks off. I've done two 2 week on pulses and am on day 11 of being off. Don't know whether I'll go back on yet. Some say it's not safe for long term use. I've got bottles of cryptolepis, sida, bidens, and alchornea sitting here un
opened waiting to be tried.
I have also taken and not tolerated a-bab and KW Lyme Formula very well.
A-bab and KW Lyme Formula have exacerbated my anxiety and as a result, gastritis has returned. I'm very uncomfortable on these formulas.
Also took doxy for a month. No overt effects though I may have a touch of oral thrush. Hard to tell for sure.
Told you all that to tell you this, artemesinin caused me no appreciable adverse reactions. I have tolerated it well. My condition has improved significantly, but still have a good ways to travel down this road to recovery...... based on the view from here anyway. Who knows what lies around the next bend.
My night sweats and chills have resolved, fatigue is maybe 50% better. It's hard to say which remedy has done the most however. But of the 4 remedies I've taken, the artemesinin and doxycycline caused the least distress.

"Some say it's not safe for long term use" Could you explain, BJD55?
Are you talking about
the need to pulse it? Because it shouldn't be taken for long periods...without breaks.
LLMD MR says 3 days only, I've seen other LLMD's do a week.
I wouldn't chance it and do the 2 weeks.
it's not that is't 'not safe' - it's that the small intestine develops an enzyme that kills it rendering it useless.
..do you know something else about
safety?

Am I CORRECTLY UNDERSTANDING BJD55 to say that he/she DID benefit from artimisinen?

He said he doesn't know which remedy of the 4 has done the most, but Artemisinin and doxy 'caused the least distress'

I think artemesinin helped me since doxycycline doesn't cover babesia.
Dr Rawls mentioned in his book on page 347: "significant risk of neurotoxicity (damage to nervous tissue) with extended use.. Never use more than 1-2 months.".
He also says pulse 1 week on, then 3 weeks off. My doc has me 2 weeks on, 2 weeks off. Go figure.

So does he mean never take it daily for more than 1 or 2 months?
Because as we know we need to treat for minimum 4-5 months for Babesisa.

I wouldn't take the Art two weeks straight for the reason I stated.
And most LLMD's agree - maybe have a discussion with your Dr about
this?
