Hi guys, sorry this is a repeat but both my lyme literate naturopathic doctors have put me on one antibiotic only plus herbs.

I'm going to give my new one a call and can't remember why we want more than one. I think one reason is possible resistance but isn't there another reason? Somehow does it effect cyst form?

Also how is azrithrmiacin? Is that a good choice. So far I've done amox and ceftin. Self treating so far with natro help.

The reasoning behind using more than mono abx is to not let it escape into a form one abx can't reach.

There are some herbs that can also go at the Lyme, and at least one goes through the brain barrier. (cyst and biofilm form)

And they can be combined, as you are getting.

Herbs are a little slower than antibiotics, but something you can stay on long term without messing up your gut flora.

you want to combine antibiotics that work differently - ones from different classes.

...and as julymorning stated you want to combine abx that are effective against the different forms of the bacteria as well.

And resistance is another reason - it was though that using two or more would prevent that.
But we are now hearing more about persistence - than resistance.
