Liver/gallbladder flush, gut detox w/ epsom salts

Has anyone ever done these flushes? Suggestions?

LLMD wants me to do each of these - I know the liver/gallbladder flush is intense.

4T epsom salts
1/2 c pure virgin olive oil
3/4c fresh grapefruit juice

I won't post the directions unless someone wants me to - but provided the ingredients so hopefully people will know which one I'm talking about.

I haven't done one.

But, I was wondering are all Epsom Salts food grade...or do we need to look for that on the packaging?

If taking internally, I would want food grade.

The epsom salts I buy come in a big plastic jug...and not sold in the food section...

So, if possible - might be good idea to get one that is food grade....or maybe research and you'll find they are.

I've done quite a few of these. Most epsom salts are okay to use internally. The package will say if they're not. I get the cheap store brand, which are fine for internal use and give instructions on how to use as a laxative.

You can mix the epsom salts with apple juice instead of water to help mask the flavor, but it still tastes awful.

I used to have the most terrible time with vomiting a couple of hours after I drank the juice and oil. I learned that this was from low stomach acid. If I take some betaine hcl with the juice and oil, I don't have that problem.

Toxic bile can really burn on its way out. You can use something like vaseline or A&D ointment on your bum to help. I've tried coconut oil, but it doesn't work as well.

Just take it easy and stay close to the bathroom until you feel like you're through.

It's fairly common not to release any stones during your first flush. It can take them a while to shift in your liver and gb, and the first flush will help with that, even if you don't see any results.

Once you start flushing, it's a good idea to keep doing it fairly regularly until you're more or less free of stones. Otherwise, you could just move things around and make the congestion worse.

I too was getting ready to do this ..juice fasting 2 to 3days before and like 4 l-ornathine is what my nurse suggested to relax the duct werx ...

I like my gb and roceph does not ...

It is kind of awful, but the results are worthwhile. By the time it's over, I have so much more energy than before, and nearly catch up on my house work in an afternoon!

I'm okay with using vaseline once in a while. It's just a short-term use, and most of it gets removed with the toilet paper.

well… this is all good info - thanks so much!

I'm really not looking forward to this but I've been on Roceph for so long and I think these infections have done a number on my liver and gb. And I'll do A-N-Y-T-H-I-N-G for more energy!

It's gonna take a couple days to gear up the nerve to do it but will let y'all know how it goes!

I can't do juicing (DNA mutations won't let me digest concentrated juices) - would you suggest something else to "relax the duct werx"?

(btw, I used to have a persian beauty - she lived to be 20. I took her into a new vet at age 19 and they thought she was maybe 2 yrs old… she was gorgeous until the very end.)

Alba sells a non-petroleum vaseline-like jelly product and I love it.

I don't know how to explain this -
but with all the awful-tasting tinctures I take, I have found a way to cut off the taste (for the most part). Your tastebuds coordinate w/ your olfactory function in a way I can't explain but if you can lift your tongue (even while drinking) so that the back of it blocks of the nasal passage… you can avoid the taste function. Does that make any sense?

I do something when I swallow things I don't like - but I can't describe how I do it. I'm somehow blocking the sinus passage as well.

it's like I don't allow myself to taste...but it's intuitive..

I have been wondering how you have been doing so I'm so glad to see you here!

Anyway, I do these flushes about twice a year and follow the instructions below which work great for me. It sounds so much worse then it really is. I thought I would have a problem with the olive oil but I didn't. I did have cramping but it wasn't that bad.
