Wow, such great insight from all of you, thank you. I just remembered something my LLMD told me at our appointment last time. He said he has patients who have lost weight and can't gain because the Lyme has actually embedded itself into the lining of the stomach and GI tract. And no tests or imaging will show this. Yuk! Girlie, that could explain why you were able to gain after starting treatment. I look forward to the same. Thanks, all. I appreciate your help
Having had GI issues all of my life (I literally can not remember a time I wasn't fighting with them), and after finding out that I had these infections, I've been intrigued with Buhner's statement that bismuth will kill intestinal spirochetes. Well, I went out on a limb a few weeks ago, and tried it. I was going to try another round before I said anything on here, because Buhner only mentions it, but not any doses or how long to use it.
I took 15 ml once a day for a few days, and then 15 ml twice a day - for a total of about
8 days. It was odd, but I hung on through that, until my innerds literally got too sore. So I took a break and now I feel I need to stay off until I've had a full week of good probiotics - but then I'm going to try it again because it has actually improved one area in my innerds!! Now my intestinal cramping is staying lower in my abdomen and not hitting the whole left side as well.
I would NOT encourage anyone to follow me on this - but wanted to let you know that those darned spirochetes DO love our intestines! It's moist and warm, which attracts all too many things anyway, but it is also a good place for nutrients for these bacteria. Not many people even notice inflamed intestines.
But, that doesn't line up with what your LLMD said about
those that loose weight - as I usually gain weight when I"m infected. Although, I did go through a time where I lost so much weight that I was actually underweight by a great deal (about
35 lbs underweight) and entered malnutrition while I had these infections and was undiagnosed. But, now I've come full circle and I'm back to gaining weight.
Oh the fun!
