scent hallucinations?

I guess ive been experiencing thiss for a while but got used to it. But I frequently smell freshly turned, cold dirt randomly. I thought I was smelling my dogs for a long time but it's apparent to me now that is not the case. It comes and goes, it's not constant.
What causes us to smell things that aren't there? Should I mention it to my LLMD? I have a phone appointment with her today.

Hmmm… that sounds like the smell of mold. Do you have any damp areas in the house? The breeze can change, and change the direction of the scent.

Yes, mention it to your LLMD.

I used to smell things burning and very strong, cheap perfume. ;)

I used to smell wood burning a lot... it freaked me out. There were a couple of other smells similar to that that were false. It's been gone now for a couple of months. I notice my sense of smell is way better now also. It's a wacky symptom to be sure...

My whole state is damp! LOL!
But I will smell it in different rooms or even out and about. And it doesn't linger or last so I think now that I'm not actually smelling anything that is present. The scent reminds me of Redmond clay. I have some that I use for facials and I kept thinking I'd left it out and the kids got into it or something.

I sometimes have a sour, rotten smell and it's CANDIDA - that might be something to look at. Most of us have issues with fungal infections. I concur, talk to your LLMD.

I had smell hallucinations and it was smoke. It was horrible. I thought there was a fire.

It went away with treatment, but it certainly is weird.

Additionally, patients commonly report some psychotic episodes, including hallucinations involving their sense of sight, smell and hearing. The list of symptoms is long and varied because the Borrelia bacteria affects every bodily system.

OK - this is crazy but do you think you might have gotten any of the clay inside your nostrils? I did that w/ an anti fungal cream and smelled sulfur for awhile. LOL

I LOVE the smell of burning wood… for me, that would be so comforting. Unfortunately, my smell was burnt something. I read that it can be a first sign of brain tumor. ;) Recent MRIs were just fine, tho.

I totally agree with that post, PeteZa, I have had different types of hallucinations like that. little stinkers in the brain…

Pirouette, I had visual hallucinations as well. I had shadow people for awhile. I swear there was someone standing in my peripheral vision. I would turn and no one was there. It was freaky.

Then there were the bugs. We have white walls in the living room and I swear there was a bug or spider on the wall. Always my peripheral vision. Again, I would turn and look and nothing there.

I thought there was a mouse running across the floor. Nope... another hallucination. I hated the eye garbage. I had so many floaters and what I thought were pieces of yarn in my vision.

But the smell thing was bothersome. I had no idea if it was real or not.

It's exhausting… as if we don't have enough going on.

My floaters are back, too and they make me feel like I'm seeing bugs fly around. Gonna crank up my anti fungal and hopefully that should work - has in the past.

I had a lot of different types of hallucinations - visual, auditory,taste and olfactory(smell). They all went away with treatment/detoxing well. Some were due to my toxins, some were just weird.

I used to smell cat urine a lot and my poor cat got blamed, but it was me smelling the ammonia in my body.

Diesel fuel used to make me incredibly nauseous, and I used to smell that from time to time - or gasoline, or fresh dug dirt, or any number of things. I have no clue what might have triggered those.

I was giggling last night because I have floaters, and (sorry, TMI!!!) as I was sitting on the toilet, I looked into the shower, and couldn't be sure I was actually seeing gnats flying or floaters!!! Come to find out, after getting up and taking a MUCH closer look, we actually had one little gnat flying around, but I thought I saw about 15 of them! LOL!!!

In the olden days we'd probably all be exorcised! Ha! Smelling freshly dug graves, seeing shadow people, hearing voices... haha!
