A few times now I've noticed my gums will be bleeding randomly - not because I've done anything or eaten anything. I was just sitting here writing, drinking a lemon water (a few sips) and went to the bathroom. I checked my teeth and sure enough, there was blood between my teeth. This is maybe the 3rd time I've noticed it in as many weeks.

This year, when I floss, they bleed like crazy. What is happening? It's bad enough I can barely leave the house now I feel like I don't want to talk to anyone for fear of having blood on my teeth.

It could be from an overgrowth of a bacteria called Bilophila wadsworthia. This is a GI bacteria but when we get sick, it can relocate to other areas of the body. The oral mucosa is one of those areas it can relocate to. It is often looked at by clinicians as being harmless but multiple research studies have shown that it can impact our health in a negative way.

Examining what you are eating is important because this bacteria (and others like it) are gram negative anaerobes. They use the nitrogen we eat as a fuel source for energy. If we decrease our nitrogen intake, we can reduce their numbers.

Also see if the lemon water (or any other food or drink) has an effect on the bleeding. Start paying attention to how good or bad your gums are doing and correlate it back to what you ate.

Might try oil pulling with coconut oil. Put few drops of oregano oil in it since it is very good for infections. This article might be helpful.

I agree with the others, oil pulling would be good to add in if you aren't already doing it. And examine your diet closely while watching for that to happen again. I know if I use too much lemon, my mouth will actually peel on the inside. I have big patches of skin from the inside of my mouth that will slough off. That's just too much lemon! LOL! Keeping a food journal will help you figure it out too.

Bleeding gums can be from these infections as well, so if it's stays really random, then you just have to rely on the oil pulling and treatments to heal it all. But do keep an eye on your dental health. You don't want this going any further either.

I would stop the lemon water for awhile and let your mouth heal. The lemon can be too much for the mucous membranes of your mouth. That can make the tissue around your teeth erode just like it can erode the enamel on the teeth.

That is why it is important to always wash your mouth out with water after you drink lemon water. Do a huge swish and spit so the lemon does not just sit on those tissues.

For now, the oil pulling with organic coconut oil would be best. You want to heal your mouth and that is a good way. If you can't do oil pulling (a lot of people can't, it gags them), just put some coconut oil on a SOFT tooth brush and gently brush your gums and teeth. Spit into a waste receptacle and not the sink. That oil can wreck havoc on plumbing pipes.

many llmd suggest patients see a biological dds. If you haven't its worth getting checked-if there is a hidden infection it will run down your immune system and make recovery much harder

Seeing a biological dentist is a good idea. If you have a lot of root canals and amalgam(mercury) fillings that could be your problem with the bleeding gums.
