Hi all,
I've been treating Lyme for over a year and a half now and recently my naturopath told me that I do test positive for EBV. Since then, I've been on valtrex which has helped me so much in my energy and has made me less weak, not shaky, and has helped overall with all of my physical symptoms. That being said, I had to go off valtrex because it was causing really strange mood disturbances and made me depressed and anxious. So, I switched to Famvir and while I did herx initially from it I don't feel as thought it's doing a good of a job as valtrex was- I feel weak and have less energy on Famvir.
I have a sneaking suspicion that EBV has been my problem for a while now as I don't really feel any effects from the herbs that I have used for Lyme. Antibiotics help me more, but don't really do enough and make my stomach feel horrible.
Does anyone have any advice? Does anyone have experience with other antivirals that worked?

Sorry to hear about
the valtrex. There are many here who do herbals, homeopathy, and monolaurin. I tried valtrex for a bit but I was allergic to the pills so I also do naturals.

Hi all,
Is Valtrex used to treat all viruses? I always thought it was used for only the HSV? Curious. Thanks!

Many are finding valtrex excellent for other viruses, including EBV. The other one is valycyte but that's plenty expensive and can be pretty severe on the body.

Interesting. Is Valtrex hard on the body? Side effects? Thank you.

I have tried monolaurin although it didn't do much for me...I might get it again just because it seems like it can't hurt. I got up to three spoonfulls of pellets pretty quickly, which is the max dosage- again, didn't really feel much.

Gabybee perhaps try another brand. Ecologics is a really good brand.

Remember that we are all different so you may tolerate it well. Many do well with it.

gabybee - I was on acyclovir for EBV. Like you, I feel the majority of my symptoms were from EBV. Most antibiotics I've been on haven't done much for my Lyme and don't cause herxes. I was on the acyclovir for about
6 months and didn't have any issues with my liver enzymes. I used GoodRx, so it wasn't terribly expensive. I also didn't start to feel better until about
the fourth month. Maybe the other drug you are on takes longer to be effective?
I started the monolaurin about
a month ago, taking the full 3 spoonfuls daily quickly (I think it was within a few days.) So far, so good, but I think I had knocked the EBV down well enough so the monolaurin can keep it in check.
I hope you find something that will work for you. Good luck!

Gabybee,
I do I-Lysine (at Trav's suggestion) and my EBV numbers are so much lower and I have had no viral outbreaks in almost one year. I do Eluthero tincture, have a cup of Rishi Matcha Green tea, and add Spirulina to morning smoothie.
All have helped tremendously with both EBV and fatigue, which as you know, are related.

I'm currently on valtrex for EBV - for about
a month now. Don't *really* notice any difference. Mood wise, I've started using CBD oil for anxiety and it's a lifesaver! I take it pretty much every day.
