My LLMD called today to tell me she got a call from Genova labs regarding cadmium in my blood. She said I have a "very elevated level of cadmium" and then she later said an "excess toxic load".
This makes sense. I've been a smoker for over 20 years, but the annoying part is, my first doc did a heavy metals test and I came up clear. That was 6 months ago. I thought it was weird since I smoke.
She wants me to do once a week IV chelation for 5-10 sessions and twice weekly infrared sauna treatments.
Unfortunately, the news set me off on a panic attack, which is why I still smoke. Two of my regular doctors, an ER doctor, my acupuncturist, a random health guru, a nutritionist and my LLMD all told me to hold off on quitting until I can get a handle on the stress - because quitting is very stressful. The last time I tried to quit I had a massive panic attack and was screaming. I'm totally fine with holding off for a while. The idea of quitting freaks me out, but I also know it's hindering my getting well. I will quit. I need some time to get my stuff together and I'm working on it.
In the meantime, is there some way I can get the ball rolling on detoxing cadmium?
As a side note, even non-smokers come up positive for cadmium. Get it checked, if you haven't already. It's everywhere (water, food, etc)
