Babesia Herx After 3 Weeks of Treatment?

I've been on Merpon and Zith for 3 weeks for Babesia. Aside from some GI upset, I haven't had any issues until today -- anxiety, fatigue, disconnected feeling, increased chills and tingling.

Can it take several weeks before a herx presents? Do you herx from Babesia treatment? Could this be the treatment hitting Lyme, and the Lyme is cycling through (I believe it's a 4 week cycle)? Someone told me it takes a little while for Mepron to build up in your system, could this be way the herx was delayed?

In the past, when I've herxed from Lyme treatment, it's been pretty quick -- within a few days. So, this is throwing me for a loop. Thanks for any ideas.

Mepron hit me the first day.

But, everyone is different...and yes it can take 3 weeks.
and Yes, you herx from Babesia treatment.

Try to focus on detoxing to help with the symptoms.

Thanks, Girlie. One LLMD I saw said you don't herx from Babesia because it is a parasite. Die-off is die-off though, right? Will detox...

Well, not sure why he would say that.

I read a lot about people herxing on babs treatment...
sweating, air hunger, anxiety increasing, chills...are a few symptoms people talk about.

Absolutely. One of my issues is i have two symptom sets. One comes on immediately and the other like a month later. So i used to keep jacking up my dose thinking i was tolerating things really well and then even though i was fully adjusted to the first symptom set the other on would hit me full force. I'm really picky about taking treatment really slow and giving each dose 3-4 weeks because things do cycle in and out that you don't expect to come on so late.

my babs symptoms started flaring up a week later, then different ones at two weeks, and three weeks. Definitely a delayed reaction.

The increase in symptoms might not be a classic herx, but instead be the immune system ramping up inflammation as the parasites become agitated.

In this sense, detox isn't going to help a ton.

Or maybe it is a classic herx.
Then detox should help.

The thing is, doctors who rely on the technical definition of herxing will say that a person doesn't herx with ______ infection, but if you talk to patients going through it, we are having the symptoms of herxing.

So to a point, the only reason it makes any difference is how to handle it. Detoxing is always my go-to for increase in symptoms, and if that doesn't help after a while, I'll lower my doses a bit to see if that helps. If that doesn't do it, after a few days, I'll increase my doses back up to where I was, with the intention of raising doses again in a few days and so on until my symptoms settle back down some.

I went through this introducing Japanese knotweed. I herxed until I got up to 6 drops twice a day, then things settled back down, until I increased again, but my herxes are only lasting for a day or two (because I have had more than enough herxing to last me a lifetime already, so I do very small increases), so I increase my detoxing for a day or two and then allow myself a few days with symptoms 'settled' and do it again.
