HELP! HIVES!

Just woke up and my arm on the side of my elbow was itching, almost like a bug bite. I began itching profusely. Within 5 minutes the area I was itching looked like it was a 4 inch area of little welts. And then all of a sudden both inner thighs about 3 inches below my crotch area got these same raised areas, I itched like crazy! Another 5 minutes go by and now my belly button area has about 3 raised spots and since im itching it looks like its spreading fast also!

Its almost like when you find a bug bite then all of a sudden you itch everywhere! I dont know whats causing it. I havent eaten anything different, the last thing I ate was a can of soup before bed 4 hours ago. The only "medicinal" item I added was about 4 days ago I added monolaurin and am only doing 1 full scoop/day to start.

I have to work OT in about 4 hours, the itching is driving me crazy. Im thinking of calling off and going to the ER, but not sure how much help they will be.

I dont know whats going on. But I took a xanax, put some hydrocortizone on the areas and went back to bed. Woke up again and theyre gone. No itching in those areas at all, not a mark. Theres only one spot on my left side that is about the size of a bug bite that is raised and itches. It wasnt there a while ago. But everything else is gone!

PeteZa, we both posted at the same time. No, I didnt go to the ER. Or work. Im at home. Read my post above. Theres only one spot left that itches, but it doesnt seem to be spreading. I was going to go to the ER, but I worried like you that theyd give me prednisone. With having Hashimotos, I want prednisone to be the last resort. But, if the itching and hives return like when I first woke up ill have no choice I guess. I just wish I knew what caused it, why it left so quick when I put hydrocortizone on it, or was it the xanax that stopped it, and is it going to return?

Think im gonna lay back down and see what happens over the next few hours.

Thanks Traveler. No mites. And just woke up, hives still havent returned, though were the hives and itching were, the skin is now a little pinkish in color compared to the rest.

Ill call my doc on monday, unless something happens between now and then, then ill head to the ER.

I just dont understand it.Cant see it being monolaurin, yet thats the only thing ive changed recently. Its crazy...or im crazy!!! One of the two. Never seen anything like it. Now I am self conscious about it. Feel all "buggy". Ugh!!

That happened to me when i first started artminsin, i though it was soy reaction .

There are so many reasons for hives.

I had hives once pre-lyme, all over my body and had to sit in the doctor's office after a shot so they could monitor me. They were sure it was going to get into my throat. I was fine but it was alarming and to this day we have no clue what I came in contact with or ate. I was one huge welt.

Pollen is out now too. Like I said, so many reasons. Now my LLMD asked me if I had any strange rashes on my body when I went to him. I told him I only had the one bull's eye. He said that he got a rash all over his torso when he got lyme, but that his wife did not get a bull's eye or any rash at all.

I think we all react so differently to so many things.

By the way, did you happen to go out into the sunlight????? Minocycline may cause your skin to be more sensitive to sunlight than it is normally. Exposure to sunlight, even for brief periods of time, may cause a skin rash, itching, redness or other discoloration of the skin, or a severe sunburn.

hi, this post got me thinking. huge, itchy hives were what alerted me to go to the Dermatologist and ask for a test 3 weeks after i found a tick on me.

i woke up one morning and there was a huge, raised, itchy welt at the back of my thigh. as the day progressed both my legs were covered. the welts were about an inch wide, raised and the biggest was about 2 inches and very very itchy.

they wouldn't have gone away had I not taken an anti-allergy pill 16 hours after they appeared. very strange. i never had that before so it was not an allergic reaction to anything I know.

it was scary but it was a weekend so i decided to wait it out till Monday to see a doctor.

just wondering if it could also be possibly a sign that the immune system is hard at work...?

One year my now ex-boyfriend and I were carving pumpkins. At 24, he'd never done it before. All of a sudden he was covered head to toe in hives!! We went to the pharmacy and the pharmacist said it was just an allergy and it would go away. It did. Within a few hours it was gone. Could be an allergy that's popping up. My body is doing all kind of weird things too. Not hives, but my sneezing allergies are back. They were gone for a long time. Some people say drinking Apple Cider Vinegar (with the mother) helps.
