Treat Bart, Babs Explodes. Treat Babs, Bart Explodes. Can I Treat Both at Once?

Has anyone successfully treated Bart and Babs simultaneously? I started treating Bart, and my Babs symptoms exploded (night sweats, chills, air hunger). So, we switched to treat Babs with Merpon and Zith. I am almost 4 weeks in on that combo and my sweats/chills are improving, while other symptoms remain.

All of sudden, however, my neuro symptoms are exploding -- inner vibrations through the roof, tingling in shins, feet, forearms, hands, numbness in chin, lips and nose and anxiety episodes. I think this is Bart flaring, though it could be Lyme.

I have a call with my LLMD on Monday, and he mentioned early on that we could consider adding Bactrim/Septra to the Mepron/Zith. Will Bactrim/Septra have any impact on Bart? Has anyone found a successful regimen that allowed them to treat both co's at the same time? Should I consider adding Sida Acuta and/or Houttuynia?

I am getting so discouraged with the 2 steps forward, 3 steps back dance.

I don't know enough about the abx to comment on that, but are you detoxing and using binders too? That might help you get further into your treatments as well.

Yes, I'm detoxing like a banshee. What type of binders do you suggest? I asked two LLMDs about binders like chlorella, and neither jumped at them (and one is a naturopath). I'm definitely open to ideas. Maybe that's a big missing piece for me.

I like activated charcoal - it's not expensive, and it's quite effective for many things - but there are others that other members like as well. The ones that come to mind are citrus pectin, natural clays that are safe to ingest, Zeolite, and Diatomaceous Earth.

Also, had you have the testing done to see if you have the gene mutations that make detoxing harder (MTHFR testing)? That may tell you a lot as well, if you've had the test done. It's usually a matter of knowing which supplements to take to help your body make those "connections" that it's not able to make on it's own.

I know how you feel...I seemed to plateau with my bart treatment and am now doing Babesia. ...but now my foot pain is getting worse!

Bactrim does have some action against bart...not sure if it will be enough though.

Rifampin can't be taken with Mepron unfortunately - but the fluoroquinolone class of abx can - which is something I'm not willing to do.

I think adding in the bart herbs to your Babs abx is a good idea.

Trav -- I'm going to ask my LLMD about the MTHFR test. I have had some intense herxes, on ABX and herbs, but not every time. This mepron herx (if that's what it is) is the worst I've ever experienced. I detox a lot, though it seems I could use a binder. So, maybe MTHFR is an issue.

Girlie, I, too, have been steering clear from the fluoroquinolones. Though, no LLMD has presented it as an option, either.

I may be ready to go the herbal route completely. But, I herxed badly on A-Bart, so I know it's not without it's own challenges.

Trying to keep the faith, hope you are, too.

KB, many have a terrible time taking A-Bart. I was one of them. Good luck figuring out your next step.

Well, DS for the first time is doing both but is pulsing so he's 2 weeks on Lyme/babs then 2 weeks on rifampin/Lyme abx for 2 months with no breaks (never done that). It's his first cycle so not sure how it will be. The hope is that 3 more cycles for babs will knock it back down as he was treating for bart after treating for months for bart and it's possible based on breathing that his babs gained some ground. We are hopefully getting toward the end of a pulsing treatment about 18 months.

I'm sorry you are having so many symptoms crop back up. It's like whack-a-mole with these infections!

Yancync - is he still pulsing though? M/W/F Babs for 2 weeks and then M/W/F Bart for 2 weeks, and repeat?



No weeks off - that's going to be tough, hey?
