Does anybody know of any connections between Lyme and Co-infections and issues with vitreous/retina bleeding, tears, and inflammation? Thank you. Any info would be helpful. I am having issues with this and a Lyme practitioner said 30-40% can be caused by infections not normal aging as I have been told. Looking for ophthalmologist that is literate. Last blood testings were very active for CMV and EBV.

I remember reading about bartonella causing eye issues...and it prompted me to see my eye Dr. for visual field testing, which I did - a couple years ago. I should probably go again.
Mine wasn't lyme literate...the testing did not show any issues in my case.

Sorry, I don't have any other information.

Thank you. I know it is not common . I lost sight in my eye from it for 2 weeks, Got vision back. But still having trouble.

I'm thinking a LL ophthalmologist would be few and far between.

Yes, I have a name ( from a Lyme practitioners) just thinking it over whether to get another opinion , the time, the expense. I am told the vision will return to normal. Just have a wondering why this happened so abruptly...He said the vitreous shifting is part of normal aging and is usually gradual, but in some cases it shifts abruptly and can take a blood vessel.

I guess the question to ponder is - Will it make a difference seeing a LL ophthalmologist? Is there anything they can do differently that a 'regular' Ophthalmologist can't do?

yes and my concern is really not what can be done now...but if this is caused by inflammation or these infections that I have on my system and not just normal aging what are the consequences for the future? with vision issues? Maybe there is something to prevent any future issues. Hopefully everything is fine but maybe to check out. Thank you for helping me think this out.

Maybe this LL ophthalmologist will have some suggestions on how to keep the inflammation down...as you stated to help prevent future issues.

Dr. H says "Crazy Eye Issues think Bartonella".

Although my eye issues started fungal they ended in Bartonella. The macular star manifestation mentioned in the article is what I went through.
