Hi Msloray -
First, I'm glad you found us and sorry you are here though. I think we can help you with some good info.
I'm glad you got to the MD and had a few things checked out and got tested for TBD - the IGeneX, in particular. Bands 23, 31, 34, 39 are all Lyme-specific bands, meaning the immune system has responded to parts of the Lyme (borellia) microbe or its DNA. So, you can't react to something that isn't there. That is a positive reaction to the presence of the microbe that causes Lyme disease. That's step 1. Step 2 is determining if the microbe has manifested into disease symptoms and yes, it has.
There are many reasons the WB test results are falsely negative like yours- mostly due to the fact that they were developed for vector surveillance purposes - so they are overly strict in their interpretation of the bands (which is why they require a specific number of specific bands for a positive result). Even the CDC states they are not to be used solely for diagnosis but the entire process is unnecessarily confusing and most MDs are clueless.
I am very sorry for the news but you were smart to get tested and the good thing is IGeneX is the superior test and it has shown valuable info for you. Your instincts were right on target.
Also - please take a photo of your rashes and document any changes, mark the edges w/a marker and re-photograph if the grow.
Next you'll need to find a Lyme specialist to partner with. Please make a new post with "Looking for LLMD in Ontario" in the subject line. Also, please email our moderator
Girlie who is also Canadian and can help you more specifically.
